This is the life story of vet Peter Wright, charting his working relationship with the famous 'James Herriot', from work experience with him as a lad, to taking over his practice in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.

Packed full of laugh-out loud moments, heartbreaking stories and transporting tales of his love for working with the animals and people of this breathtaking part of the country. Covering his bucolic childhood growing up on a farm right through to the heady days of his successful Channel 5 TV series, Peter's warm nature and professional attitude shine through.

I grew up reading and re-reading all the Herriot books. The original All Creatures was fairly true to the original books, but the new All Creatures takes liberties with the stories and characters that are disconcerting and disappointing. The Yorkshire Vet is back to facts. I love it. I’ll have to go watch The Yorkshire Vet series and see all the action hinted at in this book. Thank you, Peter Wright! And thank you, Christopher Timothy, for your great narration.

Although not the same as the. James Herriot stories I enjoyed listening to this, and finding out all the ins and outs that were not told on the Yorkshire vet TV series I did enjoy listening to it.

I love this book. I started watching the BBC show related to the book. I'm hooked on the show and have listened to the book 3 times so far.

I loved this book as a continuation of the lives involved with Skeldale veterinary practice.

I wish the details about the move from Kirkgate to Skeldale had been described earlier in the story. I kept getting confused by the Skeldale name since it was used in the James Herriot books as a fictitious location. Apparently when they moved out of the original location where all the stories are based in the Herriot books, they built a new practice and they named it Skeldale after the stories.

Christopher Timothy does a great job as usual. The only reason I didn’t give it a five star rating across-the-board was because of one chapter devoted to the TV awards ceremony for The Yorkshire Vet TV program. It just went on and on and on and was full of celebrity name-dropping and it bored me to tears. The rest of it was great.
