Tim scrambles to get out of work early so he can get home in time for his daughter’s birthday party. Despite being confronted with a number of annoying obstacles, he finally manages to get out to his car, start the engine and pull out into traffic. Just when he thinks he is going to get home in time, his car stops dead in the middle of traffic. Tim soon realizes that his car is the least of his problems.
Both Tim and Airman Johnson’s day started out like every other day, but as their day progressed, it was obvious, today would end far different than any other day. They just were not prepared for how different the day and their lives would soon become. What happened? All I can say at this point is that there had been clues over the years, signs that could have alerted us to the possibility that something like this could happen. To the rational among us, it was even more than a possibility, it was something that would one day happen. But we were told that anyone that believed in such fantasy was delusional, that they didn’t live in the real world. All I have to say to those people now is, welcome to reality.
I don’t know if there was anything anyone could have done to stop it, but they could have at least warned us. We had a right to know what was happening around us. If we would have known, maybe we could have been prepared. If they would have just told us, if they would have just confirmed what most of us already knew.
But again, maybe it is just wishful thinking to believe we would have actually been prepared.
