Victoria Aston did a fantastic job narrating this delightful story. Shana Galen has crafted an intoxicating story of suffering, lack of love or warmth from family, and a very capricious young woman who was stubborn, smart, and extremely talkative. The interaction between the two main characters is priceless. Don't miss this one, you'll be sorry if you do.

At first, I was a bit bothered by the desperate nature of our main lady, then I grew to appreciate the character and the situation. It’s the norm to believe that all “ladies” were proper and chaste, and only acted on their desire after an inner battle and initiation on the part of a man, so it was nice to see a deviation from that standard presentation.

I really enjoyed Both of the main characters. The female was feisty and the male, although a brute, was Much more than that. Their banter and tussles made me smile.

First off this is the best narrator/voice actor I’ve heard in historical I’ve no idea why the quality of narration is so inferior to contemporary but the step down extreme!
The story is unique I found the our female main fun. She fickle young and acts young. She in the throws of her fist love who everyone else sees for who he is.
Our male lead is damaged in an unique and heart breaking way. He’s hired to protect FMC from first love. He’s an intense war hero who rough around the edges. They need each other bitter nutmeg needs cinnamon. It’s not opposites so much as balance. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series because their is no way this core story could be repeated.
