USA Today bestselling author Kennedy Layne brings you a thriller that touches evil in a way that you couldn't imagine . . .

Brooklyn Sloane works as a special consultant to the FBI as one of the most adept profilers in the agency's history. She had been recruited at a relatively young age from her career in academics, but her colleagues have no idea the disturbing motive for her success.

While her current investigation into a cold-blooded serial killer garners the attention of the media, Brook is able to discover the unsub's first kill. When a tragic shooting takes place involving one of the agents assigned to the case, Brook finds herself unexpectedly out in the field searching for evidence that will eventually lead her to a viable suspect.

As Brook moves closer to her target, her own troubling past is breathing its familiar breath down the back of her neck until she finds herself at a crossroad with the very transgression that shaped her moral fiber. As her past and present collide, which one will rid her of the sin that stains her soul?

I really enjoyed this first book! I loved the build up and the background story that is the MCs motivation. I look forward to listening to the next book.

Great Start!

the narrator was really dull i had to go back and re-listen due to the boring, dry, pace at which she narrated. I feel like characters are not really well developed. but the plot itself is interesting and i do want to know what happens next.

interesting

Great story & will def start the series but dull, monotone narration (not sure if this was on purpose).

Great story, mundane narrator

The story line was really good. Unfortunately the narrator...not so much. At the beginning of the audio book, I had to start over after finishing chapter 2 because I found myself not always paying attention so I had to backtrack to figure out what was going on. The narrator sounded like she was one step away from falling asleep. The flat voice made it very hard to stay engaged. Additionally, when I read a book, my inside voice has the tone of the characters in the book. For example, if the character is in their early thirties, my inside voice has the tone of a 30's person when I am reading the book. The tone of the narrator of this book sounded like a 50 something women. I do not think Brooke was in her 50s. The flat monotone voice really made it hard to enjoy. I have to say...the story line was really good. I bought the second audio book in the series. I am going to give it one more chance. If I can't get used to the narrator, I will probably buy the paperback, if available for book 3. If it is not available, I'll move on to another book.

Loved the Story Line!
