This inspiring audiobook contains six revolutionary essays exploring the relationship between spiritual experience and ordinary life—and the need for them to coexist within each of us.

With essays on “cosmic consciousness” (including Alan Watts’ account of his own ventures into this inward realm); the paradoxes of self-consciousness; LSD and consciousness; and the false opposition of spirit and matter, This Is It: and Other Essays on Zen and Spiritual Experience is a truly mind-opening audiobook collection.

The author's ability to share his experiences as a means to explain the challenges with duality that favors either end of the spectrum. It was a beautiful story pulling the reader into the individual journey we must all undertake.

A great quick read one of my favorite parts what is analogy about leaning in to the fail of the fall when learning to ride a bike and conversely, leaning in to a car that is skidding.

Amazing book but hard to listen to. Alan Watts is always amazing and I sightful and brings a lot of depth and clarity in easy to understand terms. The man reading this book unfortunately had difficulty pronouncing certain letters, making it a little difficult to understand. He also never spoke at a consistent volume, sometimes talking as quietly as a whisper for no reason. I was constantly turning the volume up and down, and couldn't enjoy this book without interacting with my speakers every couple of minutes.

great book, not so great performance
