The core story might have been okay, but the writing and the narrator were painful. Are we to believe that a one night occurrence over seven years past and they are soul mates for life? Everyone in this story is lonely, as we are told over and over, and just need someone to love them. It seems even the nastiest person who treats everyone very badly is just misunderstood. As I said, the story could have been okay, but it was way over done, both in the writing and the narration. I struggled to reach the end without suffering from saccharine overdose.
