This uplifting chronicle of a boy’s recovery from blindness is a moving reflection of the ways that friendship can permanently join the lives of two very different people. Master storyteller Theodore Taylor traces the lives of two friends - an American boy and a old West Indian - after they are rescued from a deserted island.

I can't believe a children's book made me cry. LOL! A very moving story. If you like this book be sure to read "The Cay". It is the first part of the story.

Beautiful, sad, and full of history

The stories were great. Of course the book I read along with the audio book was different, being a different edition. Still, the novel was a good continuation of the first book.
