Molly, Charity, Barbara, Dorotea, and Amalda are members of an elite cadre of beings who have stepped out of the ordinary human race to enter their own! "Talents" are extraordinary people who read minds, heal bodies, divert disasters, and foretell the future. Great concept but somewhat improbable but the story holds your intrest. Flows nicely and ends all too soon.

Good listening experience

I enjoyed this book very much. It is a great lead to the whole series.

Wonderful story.

I love books. I am learning to enjoy having them read to me.

The issue with this new twist to become engrossed, involved and entwined with a serious novel is not likely to be easy as if Yu are just sitting with a mug of 'klah' or in front of a roaring fireplace on a slushy day.

It does take some modicum of concentration.

It is worth it, however, to not reach for the remote, for allowing your mind given some sparse images to fill in the rest, not to reorganise your desk or to think about what to wear at a stuffy event. This is *your* time, no else gets to tell you what to do with it!

This book is perfect as a lead in for two more interesting, thought-provoking books. It gives us new ideas and situations to explore. Science fiction and fantasy at its best!

It turns out, much to my surprise, that Adrianne Barbeau has a beautiful voice: warm, lovely pitch, excellently cultured. She is an actress and I would expect that she can certainly deliver a line, but still I was surprised at the quality and richness of it. I hope she will be asked - and interested - to take on more books to read.

the abbreviation was poorly done. key elements cut out leaving the story line dangling.
the narrator read as though there were no section or chaptor breaks. it made it difficult to follow the story.

the story was chopped to pieces

I quite enjoyed this story, despite it's shortness, but where it fell apart a bit for me was the choppiness. It is made up of many little vignettes that - although linear - jump both time and POV. If I was reading instead of listening, this would be easy to follow - but since I consumed this book in audio format, it caused confusion for me a few times.

Overall, I enjoyed the introduction to the universe but if I were to re-visit this novella I would read it instead of listen.

Interesting but confusing at times
