The day the blizzard started, no one knew that it was going to keep snowing for a week. That for those in its path, it would become not just a matter of keeping warm, but of staying alive...

Scotty and his friends Pete and Jason are among the last seven kids at their high school waiting to get picked up that day, and they soon realize that no one is coming for them. Still, it doesn't seem so bad to spend the night at school, especially when distractingly hot Krista and Julie are sleeping just down the hall. But then the power goes out, then the heat. The pipes freeze, and the roof shudders. As the days add up, the snow piles higher, and the empty halls grow colder and darker, the mounting pressure forces a devastating decision.

I had high hopes for this book. I was specifically looking for an atmospheric thriller. My absolute favorite genre are thrillers/mysteries set during snowstorms. Imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon this book. It hooked me from the very beginning. Teenagers trapped in their HS during a catastrophic snowstorm. What more could you ask for? The author did a great job building suspense. He created characters that allowed for an emotional attachment from readers. I was 100% invested. Unfortunately he dropped the ball with the ending. It was very anticlimactic. I feel like it wasn't even finished. I was left with more questions and just letdown in general. This book had all the makings of what should've been a five star rating from me. The narrator did an excellent job. Just wish the author had written a better ending to this book.

Disappointing ending

I really enjoyed the plot. And I think the author did a great job of adding suspense to the story

I loved it!

it's a really good story idea. It kinda gives me Breakfast Club vibes but more life threatening. I do feel like the story moved a bit slowly and might have been easier to consume as a movie than as a book. Most of the action is packed into the last quarter of the book and it feels like a lot of attention went into zits and bathroom breaks and crushes instead of the deadly situation they were in. Which, to be fair, is probably a fairly realistic teenage viewpoint so, I digress. I did still like the book and the narration was easy to listen to.

I think I might like it more as a movie
