A mother’s love faces the ultimate test against a haunting evil—and a mystery only she can solve.

When Lenora Fletcher returns to Blackmoore Castle, she hopes to help her daughter fend off whatever is disturbing her baby. But instead, she finds Blackmoore Castle shrouded in dread. A ghostly figure appears, her blood-stained dress hinting at a brutal end, and she seems determined to lead Lenora into a dark mystery. As Lenora begins to investigate, sinister forces close in, threatening her daughter’s very soul.

Desperate to protect her family, Lenora enlists the help of the enigmatic Duke and Duchess of Stratfordshire—an unconventional couple with ties to the supernatural. Together, they must journey to a treacherous otherworldly realm, where clues to the ghost’s past and the answers to saving Lenora’s daughter lie hidden.

With time running out, Lenora must summon every ounce of courage to unravel the secrets of Blackmoore Castle and confront a spirit intent on drawing her family into eternal darkness. Will she solve the mystery before it’s too late, or will Blackmoore Castle become her family’s eternal prison?

I love this series and enjoyed this book. It had been awhile so I listened to book four again. Then this one. The narrator however made me dislike Robert and Edwin. Every line by Robert sounded incredibly angry and annoyed. Edwin (although I thinks highly of himself, lol) is charming usually but this time he sounded way too full of himself. I know this is a new narrator and I enjoyed her female characters but Robert and Edwin need some tweaking. Glad to see I’m not alone on this issue. Lenora’s voice was perfect however as were most of the others. Also, even though I didn’t care for how Robert and Edwin came across I still liked this much better than the AI voices. Those creep me out. Looking forward to the next book! Now off to catch up in Cate’s world.

Good story

I have really enjoyed this series....this book was a little detached from the others but I still liked it. The narration however, not good. It was a struggle to listen to this one. I felt the original narrator sounded a good bit older than Lenora's character, but it was at least pleasant to hear.

I am sorry Pandora but NO

I am an audiobook addict, but this narrator was so bad that I almost gave up on the book. The screeching melodramatic narration, particularly pertaining to Robert and Edwin, was ludicrous and gave the book an almost satirical quality. I think the story was good enough, but I really cannot be certain, so distracting was the narration. I will not listen to this narrator again. Unfortunately, it will take a long time for me to get to the next book on Kindle. I sincerely hope a better narrator is found before the next book releases. I really like this series.

Good Book But Awful Narration

I liked the previous voice actor. This one exaggerated the voices and that doesn't fit.

Twists & turns

I have really been enjoying this series. The voice actors on the previous book engaged the listener in the story. Sadly, the narrator for this book distracts from the story line. Many of the voices are okay, but Robert sounds frantic and irritating and Edwin overly smarmy (I get that he's full of himself but this really is an exaggeration). The sentence cadence also feels off. I really want to finish the story but am considering the Kindle version to avoid becoming totally disenchanted with the book.
