A DELIGHTFUL COZY MYSTERY FULL OF QUAINT VILLAGES, QUIRKY CHARACTERS, AND MADCAP ADVENTURES BY A BESTSELLING AUTHOR.

Helen Ryes and Martha Littleword, two Americans living in England, become fast friends and amateur sleuths when a murder lands them in hot water. Killers unfortunately rarely stop at just one murder and the tome-filled libraries, ivy-covered manor homes, and lush countryside of England can be decidedly deadly!

It’s a beautiful summer and the busy village of Marsden-Lacey, England, has murder on its mind. Someone just whacked everyone’s least favorite villager, Sir Alan Carstons, on his villainous head. That’s when American expats, paralegal Martha Littleword and book expert Helen Ryes, find themselves knee-deep in Yorkshire murder. Spirited empty nesters, they throw their newbie detective hats into the ring, only to discover a murder mystery can quickly turn from adventurous lark into personal peril.

With a dash of charm and humor, and the help of a few quirky villagers, the girls might survive. They’ll have to figure out how to handle the local catch-of-the-day, Piers Cousins, and the cantankerous Chief of Police, DCI Johns. Will they, or won’t they? If they do, they might solve a murder, or two, along with a hundred-year-old mystery involving a Brontë sister and a famous piece of English history.

A FUN, ADVENTURE-FILLED MURDER MYSTERY WITH PLENTY OF HEART.

Fans of Richard Osman, M.C. Beaton, Faith Martin, the Reverend Richard Coles, Ian Moore and Jane Adams will love this unputdownable mystery.

I don't really like virtual voice, but he characters had depth. I enjoyed it.

Fun ride! it really kept me invested.

The 'bot' reading was very upsetting. A name could be pronounced differently paragraph to paragraph and the intonations and flow are very flawed. Glad it came free with my years audiobook subscription because if I'd have paid for this specific book and then have it massacred by the poor reading I'd be pretty angry.

Book written alright-Flawed bot reading.

The voice was terrible. No concept of syntax, inflection or accents. The story did not entice either

The AI is awful

Just started listening and was immediately thrown off by the narration.
The story line looks to be really interesting so I do plan to finish,
Though, it's hard listening to a narration that does nothing for the personalities of the characters or the feel for the story.
It's flat, no inflection, hard to distinguish between the two main characters.
I would think AI would easily be given algorithms for each character and feelings for the action.

Interesting story - total fail on the AI voice

Push through the automatic narrator. It’s not terrible and the story and characters are charming

Great story and characters too bad it’s narrated with an automated voice
