The actual material contained in this book is very thorough as a foundational introduction into 'real' game development. By building the readers knowledge base up from a deeper understanding of the Engines core c++ coding concepts. How ever, as an audio book, this is a very poor experience. The AI has a terrible time with consistency in narration, often changing how it pronounced words; to completely failing to read the code lines correctly. As a listener trying to learn, if you didnt understand the material examples it would be impossible to follow along with out a companion copy and really should be available with this purchase. Lastly, it would be nice if they would update this to Unreal Engine 5, although most of it is adaptable without changes.

Thorough Groundwork

So far this book is very pleasing. The narrative is very clear and easy to follow even if you don't have a printed ebook to follow. Speaking of which, is there any way to obtain the pdf as I listen? Would love to know if it comes with the purchase.

Very effective and soothing

While this book does have some issues:
1. Term pronunciation can be lacking
2. Lack of book component to review examples

It does one thing pretty well. It helps bridge knowledge. If you are at work and cannot have Unreal Engine and Visual Studio in front of you and you can only listen; this book will help connect the concepts you experience while working in UE. The terminology and what different things are can be complicated if you've not dealt with software or programming architecture before (like me). This book has a unique challenge; it has to bridge the two seperate aspects together in a way to make sense to progress. That's what UE requires and this book does a good job of that. So much so that I can put it on and just listen and as I progress in my own project I can go back to different chapters and re-up my understanding.

If there is one thing I would recommend to the publishers is to re-do the voice over. While good and comfortable, some of the terms need clearer pronunciation. Other than that; this has become a book Im on my second listening run-through and expect a third in the near future. So good job!

A great developers companion.
