They came to Earth - Pestilence, War, Famine, Death - four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to Earth, and they came to end us all.

The day Jerusalem falls, Miriam Elmahdy knows her life is over. Houses are burning, the streets run red with blood, and a traitorous army is massacring every last resident. There is no surviving this, especially not once Miriam catches the eye of War himself. But when the massive and terrifying horseman corners Miriam, he calls her his wife, and instead of killing her, he takes her back to his camp.

Now, Miriam faces a terrifying future, one where she watches her world burn town by town, and the one man responsible for it all is her seemingly indestructible “husband”. But there’s another side to him, one that’s gentle and loving and dead set on winning her over, and she might not be strong enough to resist.

However, if there’s one thing Miriam has learned, it’s that love and war cannot coexist. And so, she must make the ultimate choice: surrender to War and watch humankind fall or sacrifice everything and stop him.

But not as good as the first. This one was quite a bit longer, which felt unnecessary. There were a lot of repeated scenes and a lot of ducking in and out of tents for very little plot advancement. At times it moved too slow. I did enjoy the character backgrounds and the fact that there were more than two people in this book. The sex scenes, like the first book were hot. I just wish the author had taken more care to not overwrite everything to the point where it slowed the book down.
The writing style was beautiful as usual, and the narrator once again hit it out of the park.

in a #climatecrisis, when the world boils, and governments do not heed the environmental warnings, 2019 and its apathetic white leaders from the USA all the way to Australia -- it feels we are in apocalyptic times. And it is also the perfect time to launch an audiobook Audible upgrade and listen to 'War' in an endless loop.

When in a #climatecrisis, listen to 'War' !

War and Love

War is the second book in The Four Horsemen. After reading the first book Pestilence, the second horsemen’s book could not come fast enough. War has been sent to the earth to destroy and bring vengeance to the “evil” human race. Just like Pestilence, he is powerful and unstoppable. When War meets Miriam Elmahdy, he knows that she is his. He immediately claims her as his wife and drags her back to his camp. War must now convince Miriam to let him into her heart (and her body). Miriam is at war with herself. She is attracted to the demigod and yet, she is completely distraught over the destruction he has caused. The stakes are high for Miriam and War to survive the chaos and mayhem of the world!

War is a complex read with action, suspense, intrigue, passion, and romance. The attraction between these two is most definitely a slow burn and yet, the connection between the two is smoking hot. Both characters are driven to their own quest and when the two collide, the intensity does not stop.

Overall, War is by far one of my favorite reads for 2019! The love story is authentic because of the power struggle that exists between them from the first moment they met until the last. I could not turn the pages fast enough and I was so sad when it ended. I am looking forward to the next horsemen to hit my kindle soon!

The audio was annoying in some parts because her s’s were so muffled it sounded like she had a lisp.
