Dear Luke,

First let me say - I love you...I didn’t want to leave you...

Luke Richardson has returned home after burying Natalie, his beloved wife of 16 years, ready to face the hard job of raising their three children alone. But there’s something he’s not prepared for - a blue envelope with his name scrawled across the front in Natalie’s handwriting, waiting for him on the floor of their suburban Michigan home.

The letter inside, written on the first day of Natalie’s cancer treatment a year ago, turns out to be the first of many. Luke is convinced they’re genuine, but who is delivering them? As his obsession with the letters grows, Luke uncovers long-buried secrets that make him question everything he knew about his wife and their family. But the revelations also point the way toward a future where love goes on - in written words, in memories, and in the promises it’s never too late to keep.

“Readers will feel like they have a first-class ticket to a scavenger hunt as they ride along with the main character to solve one mystery after another...The characters are multidimensional, and their beauty lies in their flaws and accountability.” (RT Book Reviews)

I truly enjoyed this book. I started reading and found I couldn't find the time to read fast enough, so I purchased the audio and listened to the book straight through. Amazing story and characters. Suspenseful at times and oddly I did not figure out what would happen until the end.

The reason for only 4 stars on the performance, is based on the performer being male and the female voices where a bit odd.

Captivating

I had a hard time assigning stars because it's not that it wasn't good.... Just that when compared to the other book I read by the author it was a disappointment- but still worth the read.

Not as good as wreckage

I am sort of tired of the reviewer's who always claim to know the answer to who done it. I felt these characters were fully engaging, I hated them and loved them, I pulled for them and wished them a comeuppance. I generally listen to recorded books on my very long and boring commute to and from work. But this one I would listen to on a headset while shopping for groceries and cooking dinner as well. If there were pages I would've been turning them. (what is the modern day equivalent of a "page turner"?) The book was not centered on solving the mystery anyway. It was centered on understanding some of the different ways we grieve and the stupid, smart, compassionate ways we deal with one another.

Fully engaging

This book did not have a predictable conclusion. I was impressed that the author wrote a "clean" novel with no bedroom scenes.

A page turner

I hated saying goodbye to these characters. The story within a story kept me rapt. Will definitely buy more books by Ms. Bleeker.

Loved it!
