We live in a culture that has set a very high standard for beauty. But what if you are not beautiful? What if you are short, wear thick glasses, or don’t fit into designer jeans? What if everyone around you turns the other way when you walk by? What if you are plain — or just plain ugly? Meet Leah, a woman in the Bible who had to deal with more than being unattractive — she also had to contend with her beautiful sister. And to make matters worse, both sisters were married to the same man! How does God see us? Is He concerned with our outward appearance? Or does He only look at who we are on the inside? This booklet, based on a sermon by Jamie Buckingham, is about Leah and how she came to know God’s love, despite her less-than-perfect appearance. It’s also a story about you and me and the rest of the ugly people in the world — and the fact that God looks beyond our physical imperfections to see our heart. The basic gist of this pamphlet is that if everyone around you treats you poorly, mocks your appearance, maligns and disrespects you, the only answer is to look to an invisible made up diety for Love and Comfort. ignoring entirely that if this God truly exists he made you the way you appear to others and condones their treatment of you despite the fact that those tormenting you do offer up praise to him yet they are rewarded with Love and Comfort in abundance. Religion is gaslighting to convince those who suffer at the hands of family and society that it is destiny and the way it's supposed to be: many must suffer so the wicked can live in luxury.
