Twice my life changed in a single day.

The first was when I lost my parents. Hand in hand I walked with my big sister up the steps of Kerrighan House, a foster home for girls. We were lucky to be met with open arms and a house filled with children just like us. Children who'd lost everything. From that day forward, we were raised as one big family. Our bonds of sisterhood were strengthened through shared experience, pain, sacrifice, and love. Sisters not by blood, but by choice.

Soul sisters.

The second day my life changed was on the worst day of my adult life. My boyfriend broke up with me via text. My sleazy boss hit on me, forcing me to quit a job I desperately needed. And the cherry on top was getting pulled over by an FBI agent. Little did I know, he'd also save my life that night.

From the moment we met, Agent Fontaine wouldn't dare let me out of his sight. And between his alpha ways, kind brown eyes, and heroism, I was lost to the man who hid behind his job. But this agent had a rule: Never fall for a woman you've saved.

I love Audrey Carlan. She has a way of making me laugh and cry all at once and this story is no different!

Near perfect narration brought the story to life.

Another amazing Carlan story

I love Audrey Carlan’s books. This was a good storyline and I loved the character but I struggled with the narration. This was surprising since she has narrated many of her books. It seemed as if a robot was reading it at times.

Not the best narration

the story was fine—formulaic and not my favorite audrey carlan story, but that’s fine. my issue was the narrator’s performance. when she was reading actual spoken lines she was amazing—dynamic, energized, engaging. when she was reading the plot she was just awful. had it not been for the characters, i’d have thought the book was narrated by AI. she sounded like a robocall, which made it hard to really get into the book. with that said, i listened for free, so i’m not too upset.

terrible narration

I found the story to be entertaining. The narration was absolutely painful. It sounded like the voice that does the captions on Facebook or Instagram. Very robotic. It took away from the joy of listening to the book. Typically I listen to books and finish within a few days. This is the first book that took me a few weeks to listen to.

Story line was solid but……slow torture
