The saga of the legendary Los Angeles band Little Feat is one of rock 'n' roll's great stories. Formed in 1969 by ex-members of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention, Little Feat created groove-heavy music that was an irresistible mix of rock, blues, R&B, country, jazz, soul, and funk.

Fronted by the charismatic but doomed vocalist and brilliant slide guitarist Lowell George, the band recorded such classic studio albums as Sailin' Shoes and Dixie Chicken, as well as Waiting for Columbus, which many consider to be one of the best live albums of all time.

Acclaimed journalist Ben Fong-Torres - working with Little Feat's surviving members, their friends, and associates - wrote Willin' based on hours of brand-new interviews with the key players. The result? The first definitive biography of this beloved rock 'n' roll institution.

Ben Fong Torres wrote a great book, but his reading is mechanical and diminishes the experience considerably. Nevertheless, I highly recommend the book, but in this instance, you might want to read it yourself.

Love the band, love, the book, hated the narration

Learned a lot about my favorite band. I'll probably give another listen to get all the bits I missed!

Best Little Feat book

I knew very little about Little Feat but in other books I have read Lowell Georges name keeps popping up so I had to find out who is this guy. Interesting character and very interesting band.

So Underrated

There is a tremendous amount of research at work here, and the story is well documented. Much respect for that. However, the editing is very uneven, as there are multiple passages that appear more than once. The repetition is distracting. Also, the narration does not really fit the story. However, even with that being said, it is still a must for Little Feat fans.

Essential for Feat fans, but a mixed bag

This is a great book about one of America’s best and much under appreciated bands. If you love their music, you will love this. The author narrates the book himself and I think he did a very good job for someone who is probably not a professional narrator or actor.
