She’s no damsel, but dang…this knight in shining armor kinda makes her want to be.
Born into a driven and successful family, Winnie Knox tries—and fails—to impress her parents and siblings as she bounces from career to career, year to year. In a last-ditch effort, Winnie takes on consulting work at a stately home in England, hoping to gain a nice bit of prestige as she improves the massive British estate.
In true Knox Fashion, Winnie dives headfirst into her new position. In true Winnie Fashion, she ends up with her car headfirst...in the mud. But what does she see coming to her rescue? Nothing short of a knight in shining armor.
Literally. A knight in shining armor. On a horse. What century is this again? Well, whatever it is, Winnie doesn’t mind lingering in it if she gets to stare at a man like him all day. This job is going to be a walk in the park.
Of course, nothing is ever as easy as it should be with Winnie as she puts her foot in her mouth and straightaway offends the knight—who just so happens to be someone far more important than the simple thespian he appears to be.
But Winnie Knox is a professional. She can charm anyone.
Can't she?

Would definitely read again just to go back to Yorkshire with these two! Such and enjoyable story but was waiting for the resolution between a family member however I appreciate that it relates to difficult relationships we have in real life families.
The actors for this audio book were perfect and enhanced the story experience. Overall I’m smitten with this story and excited to see what happens next! Well done Deborah!
Adorable knight and heroine tale

The second half is definitely better, but it gets a tad slow at times. There’s a little too much focus on the English scenery and history lessons, and it detracts some from the story/plot… But then that ending! The closing damsel scene is awesome! Funny, quirky, and just perfect 🤓
I listened to the audiobook for this one, and I didn’t love the back and forth between the male and female narrators. I can appreciate having 2 narrators when one covers the entire POV, but it’s too much when they go back and forth within the same dialogue.
Content:
There is no foul language, sex, or violence. The romance is limited to minor ogling and lightly descriptive kisses. There is no real mention of faith or God.

Winnie Freakin’ Knox is a driven woman. Driven with heart, understanding, and compassion, but she is willing to hold her own and throw it right back at you, or rather right back to Matthew. All this confidence is hiding the pain of never feeling enough and the struggles of a manipulative father.
Matthew is very defensive of his Festival. He put his heart and soul into it and loves History, he just doesn’t know how to make it profitable. When his dad hires Winnie to come asses and make changes he stays gruff and unhelpful. until they can both decide to work together things will fall apart.
All the things to LOVE:
Horse Riding
Knights Jousting
Man From Snowy River and Harry Potter references
Wall Jump
Minnie
Her Family Call
One Bed
Half holding
Teasing
The Festival
Dinner with his friends
Wellies
His friend Group
Loved the theme of Learning Your Strengths and Asking for Help! The bravery to work towards your dreams. This is just one of those really wonderful reads full of self discovery, standing up for yourself, and genuinely good characters. You’ll also find the sweetest romance.
Delightful

Set in England, this romcom kicks off the Men of the Isles series with plenty of charm, banter, and swoony tension. Think knights in shining armor, a lively medieval festival, jousting, and a slow-burn romance that had me smiling the whole way through.
Winnie and her boss have that perfect enemies-to-lovers energy, and the forced proximity (plus the one bed trope 👀) makes the tension even better. Their banter and chemistry are top tier, and the story balances humor, family drama, and sweet romantic moments so well. I also loved the fun nods to A Knight’s Tale throughout the book!
I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Greer Davis and Barney Cooper, and they both did an excellent job bringing the dual POV story to life. Their performances made the witty dialogue and romantic tension even more enjoyable.
If you love romcoms with medieval vibes, boss/employee tension, and slow-burn chemistry, this one is definitely worth adding to your TBR.
Such a fun ride! 💫
