What happens when the one that got away comes back? Find out in this sparkling comedy from #1 bestseller Mhairi McFarlane

‘Think of the great duos of history. We're just like them.’

‘You mean like Kylie and Jason? Torvill and Dean? Sonny and Cher?’

‘I think you’ve missed the point, Rachel.’

Rachel and Ben. Ben and Rachel. It was them against the world. Until it all fell apart. It’s been a decade since they last spoke, but when Rachel bumps into Ben one rainy day, the years melt away.

They’d been partners in crime and the best of friends. But life has moved on: Ben is married. Rachel is not. Yet in that split second, Rachel feels the old friendship return. And along with it, the broken heart she’s never been able to mend.

Hilarious, heartbreaking and everything in between, you’ll be hooked from their first ‘hello’.

‘Very very witty and funny. Left me in awe … a total gem’ Marian Keyes

‘The funniest, most romantic book I've read since One DayLisa Jewell

This was very good but the narrator talks a mile a minute and is sometimes a little hard to understand. She is a very good voice actor. Also wish there was an epilogue at the end to see a bit more than where they left it. Still an enjoyable read though

One of my favorite authors

The story is fine, enjoyable enough but the wet mouth sounds are painfully distracting. The actual performance is good hence two stars rather than one but the noises take the reader completely out of the story.

Very cute story that made me laugh and tear up. The only downside was the narrator was extremely hard to understand because her accent was so heavy. I love an English accent but i really struggled with hers. Additionally, it was hard to know who the different characters were unless it was the main. Once you get passed that, Macfarlane didn’t disappoint.

Great story but narrator was hard to understand

The story has potential but I had to stop after 14 chapters. The narrator was hard to understand and made slurpy noises. Will try again if there’s a different narrator!
