An assassin in disguise is not meant to fall for their target... but Rapunzel’s life has never gone as planned.
Twenty winters ago, before the Great Famine, Zel’s parents were caught stealing the fabled sorcerer’s rapunzel, the magical lettuce that grows around the base of his tall tower in the wood. He released them under the condition that when their yet unborn babe reaches adulthood, she will stay with him for one month before becoming his bride.
Then Zel was born a boy.
Only Zel’s parents know the truth, but while he was raised to pretend to be a girl, he will be no monster’s bride. He will use his month in the tower to unravel the mystery of the sorcerer’s immortality, so he might slay his would-be bridegroom and claim the tower and its treasures for the Thieves Guild.
What Zel does not know is that the sorcerer, Ulrich, has his own deceptions planned, and their journey of secrets, seduction, and identity might lead to revelations neither expect.
Originally part of the multi-author collaboration The GriMM Tales. Each book set in the GriMM fairytale world can be listened to as a standalone and contains its own Happily Ever After. See mybook.to/GriMM if you would like to listen to the rest. This story features possessive mutual pining from enemies to lovers, secret motives, crossdressing that becomes gender identity discovery, and a guaranteed happy for now ending.

This is the story of Rapunzel, but not as you know it. In this version, Rapunzel is a complete bad a$$, trained assassin, and born a boy.
When Rapunzel’s parents tried to steal from a great sorcerer, they made a bargain to escape with their lives: that when their child turned 20, that child would become the evil Sorcerer’s bride. Rapunzel’s parents decide to raise their child as a girl to the outside world, even though inside he’s not quite sure where he fallls on the binary.
Zel agrees to his betrothal to the evil Sorcerer, planning to take him down at the ending of their betrothal month. What Zel doesn’t expect is that the sorcerer is much more complex than he imagined.
Ulrich is accommodating, sweet, and at times downright romantic. He has a dark past, but has spent his present locked alone in his tower. As they get to know each other, Zel discovers there’s finally someone he can be himself with, whoever that may be.
A beautiful story with magic, romance, a lovely but lethal assassin, and an evil sorcerer with a sweet interior.
Great story and narration!
