This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
Cliffhanging, action packed, and disturbing! This is a neat take on the viral/zombie apocalypse. This story is filled with interesting characters that run the gambit from well prepared bad ass to cowardly 'wrong-place-wrong-time' sidekicks. - Jett Cat I really enjoyed reading this story, good characters and a fast pace keep my interest all the way through this book. A most enjoyable read. - Jon V. Theisen "Vagabond" Don't eat the soup! Interesting perspective on zombies, well worth reading. Looking forward to a long series. - Edward Fox On a seemingly normal evening, Michael Fuller and his work colleague, Johnny Chen, enjoy a rare Chinese meal together — “Dragon, Tiger, Phoenix soup.” It’s supposed to help Fuller fight off a cold, but what happens next could spark a pandemic never before seen. Just days after Fuller discovers Johnny Chen has been infected with a mysterious illness, he realizes he may encounter the same fate. But this isn’t an ordinary illness. Hunted and on the run Fuller is in a race against time to stop a potential Zombie pandemic, one that he might very well create. It threatens to topple governments and to destroy humanity itself. His one problem — there is no cure. Action & Adventure Dystopian Science Fiction Zombie Cats

The virtual voice performance made the subpar story come across even worse. It really made it difficult to finish listening to.

It had an interesting premise but wasn’t very well written

This has started off as a good introduction into what I hope is a multi-book series. The character development has been ok but I like the premise thus far! I look forward to the next installment. This has been one of the best “virtua-voice” reads I have experienced thus far, not many stumbling blocks experienced.

Solid story

SPOILER AHEAD !@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ I like the idea the book was presenting. It was more like 28 days and The Bay type story than zombies but still a great premise. And to the guy who just started his review by spoiling it all… thanks for spoiling the surprise twist dude. Spoiler warning maybe next time?
Now about the AI narrator, we are given warning about the fact it’s used and if we still listen, then that’s on us. It’s not great, it’s not so horrible it ruins the book though. AI has trouble conveying emotions and often mispronounces words which I found mostly hilarious, only somewhat off putting. All in all it’s a free listen and I’m here for that!

Not terrible

There are no zombies- it’s parasites causing rage like symptoms. The story and characters have no depth- the storytelling subpar. The AI narrator was terrible, and only detracted further from experience. Having a book read to you by a robot is deeply unsatisfying- avoid at all costs. This listen was free and it still wasn’t worth it.
