Sarah Everard was abducted, raped and murdered in London on 3rd March 2021 by Wayne Couzens, a serving Metropolitan Police officer, who used his warrant card and handcuffs to stage a fake arrest for breaching Covid-19 lockdown rules.
Her murder caused widespread outrage and prompted conversation about women's safety in public spaces & damaged the public’s trust in the police. Leading to the Angiolini Inquiry that sought to examine how such a horrific crime could happen.
