Alberta's hostile treatment of the renewable energy industry has resulted in nearly 15 gigawatts of projects worth billions of dollars vanishing into thin air. In just a few years before the province's moratorium and subsequent policy changes, Alberta benefited from $6 billion in investment in renewable energy, 6,000 jobs, and $74 million in new tax revenue to cash-starved municipalities.We talk to Jorden Dye of the Business Renewables Centre Canada, an organization that tracks investments in Power Purchase Agreements with the industry. The volume is down 99% in the wake of policy changes.
