Today's Guest: Ice Hockey Marketer, Instructor and Philanthropist- Sarah Thompson

Today's guest is a scholar, athlete, and humanitarian who has spent her career turning passion into purpose. She played ice hockey at both Syracuse University and St. Lawrence University, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Syracuse with a degree in Sport and Fitness Administration and Management — earning the Matt Brodsky Philanthropic Excellence Award along the way. In 2023, she launched the Thompson High Performance Program in Ottawa — a sold-out elite summer hockey program for girls, staffed by female players from the NCAA, USports, and professional ranks, extending into a year-round mentorship program where she works one-on-one with select athletes on everything from goal setting and nutrition to mental training and navigating the recruiting process.

She completed her Master's degree in Organizational Leadership at St. Lawrence University in 2025, and that same year was honored with both the 2024–25 NCAA Hockey Humanitarian Award and the 2025 Sarah Devens Award — two of the most distinguished recognitions in college hockey.

  • 5 Tips & Tricks: Professional Baseball Player and Founder of Optimal Baseball Performance- Steve Johnson
    Mar 3 2026

Today's Guest: Professional Baseball Player and Founder of Optimal Baseball Performance- Steve Johnson

Born and raised in Baltimore, today’s guest made his mark early at St. Paul’s School, where he became one of the most decorated players in program history. A four‑year varsity starter with a 34–5 record, a 1.54 ERA, and more than 300 strikeouts, he also swung the bat with authority—hitting .365 with 13 home runs and 84 RBI. His high‑school career was packed with standout moments: a no‑hitter, a perfect game, a 20‑strikeout performance, and state records for doubles in a season and runs in a career. He remains the only player ever named first‑team All‑Metro all four years, earned Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year honors in 2005, and joined an AFLAC All‑American roster filled with future MLB stars.

After being drafted by the Dodgers in 2005, he spent more than a decade in professional baseball, rising through the minors, making his MLB debut with the Orioles in 2012, and later pitching for the Mariners. His first big‑league win came on a date that mirrored his father’s own milestone exactly 23 years earlier—a moment that cemented his place in Orioles lore. Across 14 professional seasons, he logged over a thousand minor‑league innings, posted a 6–1 MLB record, and eventually transitioned into developing the next generation of players through Optimal Baseball Performance, founded in 2019.
