Two stories of Arsene Lupin. In the first, the Queen's necklace has gone missing from a locked and guarded room. On the second, a man just wants to relax on the train where he won't be crowded by loud, smoking people...or getting tied up and repeatedly punched in the face.

The original translations are masterful. LeBlanc is more careful with his mood building and near-foreshadowing than Jason’s conversational style but is dry and wordy in the style of the times. Jason catches the nuances and conveys them more directly with his usual talent for finding the irony. And he really skips none of the action despite the condensation.
Excellent as always.
Two of LeBlanc’s best tales, abridged with talent
