    Additional Questions:
1.With the Cubs and Astros pitching staffs decimated with injuries, why is Lucas Giolito still not signed?
1)Is it time for fantasy managers to put him on their rosters?

2.Ben Rice was the one guy I told our Patreon members not to leave the draft without. It’s proving prescient, and now the Yankees are using him more against lefties. Over/Under 35 home runs.

3.Speaking of the Yankees, Will Warren has looked very good so far this season. 2 wins, 11 K/9, 2.49 ERA, 3.68 xERA

4.The Phillies put Jhoan Duran on the IL with an oblique strain. Who gets the save opportunities in Philadelphia?

5.Gerrit Cole and Zach Wheeler have both had rehab games this week and they were “Ehh”. Who do you want the rest of the season?

6.If you take away Yamamoto, the rest of the best Japanese pitchers who have migrated to MLB haven’t been very good. What’s your take on each?

    1)Kodai Senga (NYM, 2023) – 8.83 ERA
    2)Roki Sasaki (LAD, 2025) – 6.23 ERA
    3)Tatsuya Imai (Hou, 2026) – 7.27 ERA

    Take 10 with Tim – April 17, 2026 @ 9:15 am
    Microsoft Teams:

1.We’ve had some impressive early-season pitching performances, which might be showing a new baseline, and which are going to correct?
    1)Jeffrey Springs (LHP, ATH) – 24.2 IP, 20K/8BB, 1.46 ERA, 3 wins
    i.Tim: Concerned about the park
    2)Emerson Hancock (RHP, Sea) – 23.2 IP, 25K/4BB, 2.38 ERA, 2 wins
    i.New baseline for Tim.
    3)Parker Messick (RHP, Cle) – 25.2 IP, 25K/7BB, 1.05 ERA, 3 wins
    i.Tim sees him as a #2/#3
    4)Sandy Alcantara (RHP, Mia) – 30.1 IP, 22K/6BB, 2.67 ERA, 2 wins
i.Tim: The rust has been knocked off and he’s back to being a fantasy ace
    5)Drew Rasmussen (RHP, TB) – 16.0 IP, 17K/1BB, 1.13 ERA, 1 win
i.Tim: He’s been pretty good to-date and that continues. K-Rate will normalize. Needs to stay healthy.
    6)Randy Vazquez (RHP, SD) – 21.2 IP, 25K/8BB, 2.49 ERA, 1 win
    i.Tim: Correction coming.
    7)Braxton Ashcraft (RHP, Pit) – 17 IP, 20K/XBB, 2.12 ERA, 1 win
    i.Tim likes him.
    8)Bryce Elder (RHP, Atl) – 23.1 IP, 23K/7BB, 0.77 ERA, 2 wins
    i.Tim: Sell high – now.
    9)Justin Wrobleski (LHP, LAD) – 17.0 IP, 6K/5BB, 2.12 ERA, 2 wins
    i.Tim: He’s ok, more of a 4.00 ERA
    10)Tomoyuki Sugano (RHP, Col) – 16.2 IP, 12K/3BB, 2.16 ERA, 1 win
i.Tim: Only one game at home. He’s an innings eater and will eat into your ERA. Big time correction coming.

2.Long-time Angels’ prospect Jeremiah Jackson is getting a chance to play for the Orioles as Jackson Holliday is rehabbing. In fact, the Orioles have slowed Holiday’s arrival to Baltimore – not sure if it’s related to how well JJ has been playing. He hit his fifth home run of the season on Wednesday. He’s always swung at everything, and 2026 is no different, as he hasn’t walked yet. What happens with Jackson Holliday is ready to return?
    1)Holliday gets sent down?
    2)Jeremiah Jacksion gets sent down?
    3)Coby Mayo gets sent down?
4)The Orioles keep all three on the roster.

3.What did you think of Noah Schultz’s start on Tuesday – 4.1 IP, 4 hits, 3 ER, 4K/4BB
1)In case you’re wondering, all the damage in his start was done by RHB. .883 OPS vs. .200 OPS. Of course, it was a tiny sample size

4.Kevin McGonigle continues the trend my signing a massive contract at 8 years and $150 million. Rank these young players on who you would like to own for the next five years.
    1)Kevin McGonigle
    2)Samuel Basallo
    3)Roman Anthony
    4)Konnor Griffin
    5)Jackson Chourio

5.With the Cubs and Astros pitching staffs decimated with injuries, why is Lucas Giolito still not signed?
1)Is it time for fantasy managers to put him on their rosters?

6.The mediocrity at the start of the season among MLB teams is pretty stark. I’m writing this on Wednesday afternoon, and over half the teams are at or near .500, either even or one game over or under. Is this just a weird start to the season, and will the better teams start to accelerate?
1)The three best records in the league belong to the Dodgers, Braves, and Twins. I think we all assumed the Dodgers would be good, but you weren’t all that bullish on the Braves. Thoughts on their start – without Ronald Acuna doing anything.
2)What about the Twins? Can they keep this up?

7.What hitter will you be targeting for this weekend’s FAAB?

    Additional Questions:
1.The White Sox listened to our podcast on Friday, as it’s being reported that Noah Shultz will be called up to start Tuesday against the Rays. I’ve already put my Hot Prospects of the Week in place and wrote three paragraphs about Shultz before the game. In sum, I’m not convinced his control problems are behind him. What say you?
a.Will you be starting him on Tuesday if he gets the call?

2.David Bednar is one of the funks runs given up in four of his five last games, with a blown save yesterday and another loss on Wednesday. If you were to handcuff, who would it be?

3.Ranger Suarez had a good outing yesterday, and his early-season jitters are hopefully behind him.

4.Tatsuya Imai with another brutal outing. That’s two bad and one good. I hope to put out a baseballsavant breakdown videocast on him as I’ve done a thorough analysis of what the data is telling me.

5.Adley Rutschman hits the IL with ankle inflammation. Is there anything worth picking up here?
a.Wyatt Langford appears to have only suffered a small quad injury and can hopefully avoid the IL. But maybe he should spend 10 days on it, finding his swing.
6.Both Riley Greene and Julio Rodriguez finally did something after we chastised them on Friday. I think we should give these players some kind of bonus, since it always seems that after we criticize them, they perform well. What say you?

1.Maybe it’s just me, but offense seems to be a problem to start the season. There are a ton of guys struggling. Here are just 12. I could have gone 30 or 40 deep. Start, Sit, and Drop
    1)Julio Rodriguez (OF, Sea, 100% rostered, 9 ADP) - .143 BA, 0 HR, 0 SB, 4 runs, 2 RBI
    2)Nick Kurtz (1B, ATH, 100%, 19) - .189 BA, 0 HR, 2 SB, 6 runs, 2 RBI
    3)Riley Greene (OF, Det, 100%, 73) - .196 BA, 0 HR, 0 SB, 7 runs, 6 RBI
    4)VinnyP (1B, KC, 99%, 78) - .200 BA, 0 HR, 0 SB, 3 runs, 5 RBI
    5)Michael Busch (1B, CHC, 99%, 105) - .140 BA, 0 HR, 0 SB 6 runs, 0 RBI
    6)Trevor Story (SS, Bos, 91%, 105) - .151 BA, 1 HR, 0 SB, 1 run, 8 RBI
    7)Jorge Polanco (2B, NYM, 84%, 210) - .200 BA, 0 HR, 0 SB, 2 runs, 1 RBI
    8)Marcus Semien (2B, NYM, 84%, 244) - .209 BA, 1 HR, 0 SB, 2 runs, 6 RBI
    9)Trent Grisham (OF, NYY, 84%, 248) - .167 BA, 0 HR, 1 SB, 7 runs, 4 RBI
    10)Marcell Ozuna (UT, Pit, 58%, 321) – 2 for 31, 0 HR, 1 run, 0 RBI
    11)Carson Benge (OF, NYM, 83%, 340) – .108, 1 HR, 4 SB, 3 runs, 3 RBI
    12)Coby Mayo (3B, Bal, 54%, 389) - .133 BA, 1 HR, 0 SB, 2 runs, 1 RBI

2.The world was very excited about Konnor Griffin, but more often than not, he’s struggling – 3 for 18, 0 HR, 0 SB, 5K/2BB. You likely started him when he first came up, but now what do you do?

3.We never discussed the crazy game Jo Adel had. While not fantasy related, he stole three home runs on the night and did it with a lot of style. Did you see it?

4.Taj Bradley has been a revelation this season and is seventh on the Fantrax Player Rater for pitching. 16.2 IP, 22K/4BB, 2 wins, 1.08 ERA. A lot has been expected of him, dating back to his days with Tampa. Is this real?

1)As good as Bradley has been, sitting on the top of the pitcher Player Rater is the Angels Jose Soriano – 20 IP, 21K/6BB, 3 wins, 0.45 ERA
i.Who had this on their bingo card? Real or not?
2)Who would you rather roster the rest of the season – Bradley or Soriano?

5.Cade Horton is having elbow surgery – UGH! Who do you look to pick up his starts?
1)It was also made official that Cody Ponce will miss the rest of the season. Sorry Tim.
i.It does bring up a question. For fantasy players, is it wise to invest heavily across a bunch of leagues in one player, like Ponce. When you do, you’re scrambling What say you?
6.On our Patreon site, I’ve written several times about Noah Schultz. He’s looked great so far this season, throwing a lot more strikes, but still doesn’t have a change-up. He looks to be getting close. I see the appeal, but I want to see more before adding him this season. What say you?
1)Do you have two or three prospects you are looking to get called up soon?

    Additional Notes:
1.Mookie Betts with an oblique and Hunter Brown with a shoulder?
    a.Who are the pickups?
2.What happened to Cristian Javier, or was he always overrated? He’s a flyball pitcher with a 92-93 mph fastball. While he had a great season in 2022, he wasn’t good prior to TJS and has been really inconsistent since.
a.Is he somebody who can bounce back?
3.When do we start to worry about Nick Kurtz? Prior to Saturday’s game, he’s one for 21 with 13 strikeouts in 26 plate appearances. Most of his games have been on the road. It’ll be interesting to see if things change now that the A’s are home. Last season, he posted the same batting average, but made better contact at home with a lot more power.
4.Jordan Lawlar has a fractured wrist and will miss the next 6 to 8 weeks. The guy just can’t catch a break. Thoughts on who gets his at-bats?
a.Also, I’m wondering what happens with Gurriel's return. Will Lawlar still have a job?
5.Eury Perez couldn’t find the plate against the Yankees. It could have been a lot worse than 4 ERs in 4 innings. Any worries?
6.Don’t look now, but Jordan Walker is hitting .296 with two home runs over the first 8 games. It’s clearly a small sample size, but at least it’s a nice start to the season.
7.Tatsuya Imai – Great call by us as he dominated the As in Sacramento. He still walked three though.

  • 2312 - The Arrival of Konnor Griffin
    Apr 4 2026
    Take 10 with Tim – April 3, 2026 @ 9:15 am – 1 hr
    1. Now were talking…Konnor Griffin will be promoted prior to Friday’s game. It’s being reported that the Pirates signed him to a nine year, $140 million contract. It was in line with what the Red Sox signed Roman Anthony for last season 8-years and $130 million.
    a. It’s smart given what has happened to contracts, but as we’ve been saying, you’ve got to get Griffin in the big leagues soon to get acclimated
    i. Ok – projections – AB, HR, SB and BA
ii. Does this make a difference for the Pirates? If so, how many wins?
    b. The Mariners have also signed Colt Emerson to a long-term deal (8-years and $95 million) but are keeping him in the minor leagues – for now.
    2. Who would you nominate for each position after the first week of play? Mine are listed
    a. Best fantasy hitter
    i. Rich: Shea Langeliers – 24 AB and five home runs
    1. Is he 2026’s Cal Raleigh
ii. Tim: Drake Baldwin – 3 HR, 7 RBI
    b. Best fantasy pitcher
    i. Rich: Cam Schlitter – 11.2 IP, 2 wins, 15K, 0.00 ERA
ii. Tim: Kevin Gausman – 12.0 IP, 21K, 1.00 ERA
    c. Biggest surprise
    i. Rich: Chase DeLauter – 22 AB, 4 HR
ii. Tim: Liam Hicks – 1.659 OPS and leading the league in RBIs
    d. Come on, do something.
    i. Rich: Jakob Marsee – 22 AB, 3 hits, 1 SB, 7K/3BB, .136 BA
    ii. Tim: Wyatt Langford – 4 for 28, 1 RBI, 0 HR, 0 SB
    e. Surprise team
    i. Rich: Red Sox – 1-5, vs. Reds and Astros – Only 17 runs scored, second worse in baseball only behind the Giants
ii. Tim: Marlins – 5-1 and scored 33 runs and Yankees 5-1 and only given 6 urns.
    f. Best individual performance in a game
    i. Rich: Gavin Williams – 4/1 vs. LAD – 7 IP, 2 hits, 0 ER, 10K/3BB
    ii. Tim: Sandy Alcantara – 4/1 vs. CHW – 9 IP, 3 hits, 7K/0BB in 97 pitches
    3. Carlos Estevez officially goes on the IL, and it’s now Lucas Erceg in the closer role. Can Erceg keep the job regardless of what happens to Estevez, or is this just temporary, given that Estevez makes $10 million a year, and well, Erceg doesn’t?
    4. You guy, Cody Ponce hurts his knee and while there is no treatment plan yet, it appears he’ll be out for a good chunk of the season. Who gets his starts in Toronto?
    5. Are you ready to give the Closer role in St. Louis to Riley O’Brien?
    6. Given me a hitter that you are targeting for this weekend?
    a. Jose Fernandez - Diamondbacks
    7. Give me a pitcher that you are targeting for this weekend?
    a. Clayton Beeter - Washington
