  • Pickering Museum Village
    Apr 27 2026
There's a Pioneer Village in Pickering, Ontario, where 19 heritage buildings stand frozen in time. But according to staff who work there after dark, the people who once lived in these homes may never have truly left. In this episode of Haunted Canada, we speak with heritage programmer Ali Crone about the strange encounters inside Pickering Museum Village — from disembodied voices calling out names in the Brougham Temperance House, to a mysterious fainting couch that makes visitors feel sick and dizzy. Children on school trips have pointed to figures watching from upstairs windows when no one else was inside. And in one house, multiple witnesses have heard something growl. Some believe the spirits of early settlers — including the woman who once lived in what is now the museum's office — still walk these creaking floors. And when the lanterns burn low and the village falls quiet… their presence makes itself known. Have just finished episode one and thoroughly enjoyed not just the stories, but the narrarator. Very well told and with such an easy flow. I am quite sure that I am hooked on this series.

FIVE BIG STARS!!!

Really Good!

I've only listened to the introduction of this podcast, as it's brand new and that is currently the only episode available, but already this is so much better than many other ghost story podcasts I've tried! The quality is very good, the host doesn't meander around in small talk, and the presentation doesn't resemble a sixth grade book report! I can't really judge the material yet, of course, which is the only reason I gave the content only four stars, but this far I have very high hopes for Haunted Canada! With sound effects and music, good recording quality, interesting subject matter, and an engaging broadcasting style, this promises to be a gem among ghost and true crime podcasts! I look forward to listening to more!

Introductory Episode is Promising!

I was eagerly anticipating this series, because I love ghost stories and these happened not too far from where I live. The storytelling is not too lively, though, and I found myself struggling to get through them. I would, possibly, tune in again for the subject matter, but I’m not sure how soon…

I like that the stories are true, and happened nearby.
