Are you an exhausted nurse running on empty? Do you feel irritable after every shift, emotionally numb, or like you're just surviving instead of thriving? Maybe you're a night shift nurse who can't sleep, a bedside nurse drowning in documentation, or a healthcare mom who feels like she's failing everyone.

You want work-life balance, but it feels impossible. You crave connection with God, quality time with your spouse and kids, and just five minutes of peace—but patience and presence seem out of reach after another exhausting shift. You know you need self-care, but you're so depleted from caring for everyone else that you don't even know where to start.

Sound familiar? You might not realize it yet, but you're experiencing nurse burnout—or heading there fast.

You're in the right place, and you're not alone.

I'm Shan Wright—wife, mom to 4, Registered Nurse, and Holistic Nurse Coach. I've been where you are: burnt out at bedside, struggling with postpartum anxiety, feeling disconnected from God and my family, and wondering if this exhausting cycle was just "how it is" for nurses. After burning out in bedside nursing, I realized I couldn't pour from an empty cup. I sought the Prince of PEACE and charted my way to whole-body wellness through simple, faith-based holistic practices—and I'm excited to share them with you!

On this podcast, you'll discover how to:

  • Overcome high-functioning fatigue and stop just surviving shift to shift
  • Set boundaries without guilt at work and home
  • Manage nursing stress so work doesn't hijack your home life
  • Process emotions through faith-based practices instead of suppressing them
  • Create sustainable self-care that doesn't feel like another task
  • Build emotional resilience to handle difficult patients and workplace drama
  • Find work-life balance that actually works for 12-hour shifts
  • Reclaim your energy, peace, and purpose beyond the badge
  • Experience joy by embracing your identity in Christ—not just as a nurse

Let's get our heads out of the medication cart and never-ending charting and courageously navigate this nursing journey TOGETHER!

Go ahead—heat up that coffee (again), clock out mentally, and let's chat, Nurse!

God's got this. New episodes every week.

  • 227/ Burnt Out Bedside to Kingdom Business: Turn Your Nursing Skills Into Your Calling [with Leniesha Norwood, RN]
    Apr 14 2026

Hey friend! I am so glad you are here today, because this episode — this one right here — is one I have been genuinely excited to bring to you.

Have you ever had that quiet, persistent feeling that God is calling you to something more — something beyond the bedside — but you did not know what to do with it? Maybe you have been faithful to your nursing career, you have given it everything, and yet there is this stirring in your spirit that will not go away. Like there is something else. Something bigger. Something you were built for that your nursing license alone cannot contain.

If that resonates with you — stay right where you are. Because today's guest was made for this conversation.

I have the honor of introducing you to Leniesha Norwood. Leniesha is a critical care nurse, a homeschool mom, an entrepreneur, a Holy Spirit-led coach, and the host of the Nurse to CEO Podcast. She brings over two decades of healthcare experience to everything she does — and she has spent that time not just caring for patients, but paying attention to what God was building in her through every single shift.

She mentors nurses who feel that tension — the one so many of you know — between serving faithfully at the bedside and sensing God calling them to more.

In today's episode, Leniesha is unpacking something that I think is going to genuinely shift how you see yourself. Because here is the truth she is going to walk you through: you have been trained in far more than patient care. The skills you use every single day at the bedside; your ability to teach, to lead under pressure, to simplify complex information, to guide people through some of the hardest moments of their lives.... those are not just nursing skills. Those are Kingdom skills. Those are coaching skills. Those are the skills that build something that lasts beyond a 12-hour shift.

Romans 11:29 says: "For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." That means what God placed in you did not expire at the bedside. And today, Leneisha is going to help you start seeing that clearly.

Now — I also want to make sure you know about something special she has coming up. On April 22nd at 11:30 AM Eastern, Leniesha is hosting the RN to CEO Shift Workshop — and it is going exactly where today's conversation is going, only deeper. She is going to walk you through how your nursing skills translate into coaching, mentorship, online business, and Kingdom-centered impact. Real examples. Practical steps. And the clarity you have been looking for about what your "next" could actually look like.

    Xx, Shan

  • 226/ The Science-Backed, Biblical Tool That Fights Burnout at the Root
    Apr 7 2026
HI Nurse friend, In this expanded follow-up to Episode 224, we go deep on one of the most powerful — and most overlooked — tools in burnout recovery: self-compassion. Not as a soft concept, but as an active, research-supported practice that can literally change your nervous system chemistry. And it’s biblically based! In fact, Jesus said it was the second greatest commandment! In this episode, we cover:
    • The difference between self-love and self-compassion — and why you can have one without the other
    • What Matthew 22:39 actually says about how you are meant to love yourself (the Greek changes everything)
    • The research from Kristin Neff's Mindful Self-Compassion for Burnout — including a pilot program with healthcare workers that reduced all three core dimensions of burnout
    • Why your inner critic is keeping your body in fight-or-flight — and how a wise inner coach changes that
    • The one question that is at the heart of every self-compassion practice

  • 225/ When Burnout Becomes a Medical Emergency: One PA's Healing Journey to Peace [ with Alex Pujol ]
    Mar 31 2026

Hi nurse, If you have ever told yourself I am fine while everything inside you was screaming otherwise — this episode is for you.

Today's guest is Alexander Pujol — former physician assistant, founder of Quantum Human Performance, and one of the most courageously honest voices in the healthcare wellness space. Alex spent years working in high-pressure medical environments, carrying the weight of patient care, professional responsibility, and relentless people-pleasing without ever stopping to ask what it was costing him.

What began as chronic stress quietly progressed into severe burnout. Severe burnout led to prolonged sleep deprivation. Sleep deprivation spiraled into paranoia and psychosis. And that downward spiral ultimately culminated in a suicide attempt — a moment that forced a complete reckoning with how disconnected Alex had become from his own body, his emotions, and his sense of self.

But that is not where his story ends.

Through ongoing therapy, nervous system regulation, emotional healing, and the kind of deep inner work that requires more courage than any shift he ever worked, Alex rebuilt his life from the inside out. Today he combines his clinical expertise with his lived experience to help high-performing athletes and leaders sustain success without sacrificing their health or their humanity — using neuroscience-based holistic wellness strategies with a powerful emphasis on emotional regulation and mindset training.

In this episode, Shan and Alex go deep on the realities of healthcare burnout that nobody talks about — and the pathway through that actually works.
