  • The Colonel's Rough Ashlar: How Harland Sanders Built KFC with Temper, Grit & Masonic Steel
    Apr 29 2026

What if the finger-lickin' good icon behind a global fried chicken empire was a hot-tempered, gun-slinging, twice-married Freemason who started franchising at 65 with nothing but a pressure cooker, a Social Security check, and over 1,000 rejections?

In this no-BS episode of The Masonic Files, we skip the white suit legend and grab the working tools. Colonel Harland Sanders dropped out in 7th grade, lost jobs in fistfights, survived a deadly roadside shootout over gas station signs, navigated affairs and rocky marriages, then perfected 11 herbs & spices under pressure — literally.

From Indiana farm kid to Kentucky café owner to global icon, Sanders lived the Masonic journey: knocking off rough edges with relentless hard work, integrity, and brotherly mentorship (including guiding a young Dave Thomas toward Wendy's). He was initiated in 1917, raised a Master Mason in 1919, later affiliated in Corbin, and rose to 33° Scottish Rite — all while his bullheaded passions tested every compass and square.

This isn't a sanitized saint story. It's the real labor of a flawed brother who proved you're never too old, too broke, or too many knock-downs to build something that feeds millions and endures.

    Key moments:

    • The 1931 Corbin shootout that nearly ended everything
    • Pressure-cooker experiments that changed fast food forever
    • Hitting the road at 65 with $105/month
    • Quiet Masonic philanthropy and mentorship

If you're grinding through setbacks, rejections, or your own rough edges — this one's for you.

  • Dave Thomas: From Foster Kid to Square-Dealing Masonic Empire Builder (Wendy’s Founder & 33° Mason)
    Apr 25 2026

What’s up, legends? Welcome back to The Masonic Files.

Today we’re stepping into the drive-thru where the smell of fresh beef hits you first. We’re talking about Brother Dave Thomas — high-school dropout, former foster kid, Army veteran, and 33° Scottish Rite Mason + Shriner who built Wendy’s from one location into a global empire.

Born in 1932, adopted at six weeks, orphaned young, and working greasy-spoon kitchens by age 12, Dave dropped out at 15 because he refused to be a burden. He volunteered for the Korean War, ran mess halls feeding 2,000 soldiers, turned around failing KFC franchises for Brother Colonel Harland Sanders, then opened the first Wendy’s in Columbus, Ohio on November 15, 1969 — naming it after his daughter.

Square patties that hang over the bun. Fresh, never-frozen beef. Over 800 commercials where Dave himself promised “We do it right.” At 61 he earned his GED to show kids it’s never too late.

Initiated into Sol. D. Bayless Lodge No. 359 (Fort Wayne, IN) in April 1959 and raised just weeks later, Dave didn’t just wear the ring — he lived the obligation. Hard work as a creed. The square for honest dealing. Relief turned personal pain into the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, still placing thousands of kids into forever homes today.

This slow-burn episode shows exactly how Masonic values — Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth — built something real in the everyday grind of business and life.

  • The Green Dragon Tavern: The Freemason Dive Bar That Was the Straight-Up Headquarters of the American Revolution
    Apr 22 2026

🚨 LAUNCH EPISODE – THE MASONIC FILES

Yo, what’s up you magnificent bastards?

The Masonic Files kicks off with a raw, no-BS deep dive into the Green Dragon Tavern – the Freemason dive bar that served as the straight-up Headquarters of the American Revolution.

Picture a salty brick tavern in Boston’s North End with a giant copper dragon sign turned green by the sea air. Downstairs: regular joes slamming pints. Upstairs: the Long Room, where St. Andrew’s Lodge bought the building and turned it into ground zero for the patriot movement.

This wasn’t some fancy inn. It was the ultimate Masonic speakeasy and war room. Paul Revere and Dr. Joseph Warren ran point here alongside the Sons of Liberty. Masonic oaths kept secrets tight while they planned moves that changed history.

Blue-collar craftsmen, silversmiths, and mechanics didn’t just wear the apron — they lived the principles of Liberty, Equality, Relief, Truth, and Brotherhood under fire. Zero powdered-wig propaganda. Just grit, glory, and the absolute unit moves that helped birth America.

If you love real Masonic history told with sarcasm, punch, and bro-to-bro energy, this series is for you.

The Masonic Files is your no-fluff passport to the hidden stories, men, and brotherhood behind the Craft.
