The case centres on a brutal incident in January 2022, when a father-of-four was attacked inside his own home by three masked men armed with a machete, suffering devastating injuries. Prosecutors told the court the assault was linked to an earlier dispute involving the victim’s son, believed to have taken place within the prison system. Dowdye, 42, from London, denied any involvement throughout the trial. However, the prosecution alleged he played a key role — claiming he was present at the scene, filmed the attack, and encouraged the violence as it unfolded. Phone data placed him in Nottingham at the time of the attack, and he was also linked to a suspected getaway vehicle used after the attack, according to court proceedings. Originally arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, Dowdye was ultimately convicted of the lesser charge of GBH with intent. He is now awaiting sentencing.
