Scarborough Community Town Hall on Public Safety
On April 1, 2026, MPP David Smith joined the entire Scarborough caucus of government MPPs at a Public Safety Town Hall hosted by Honourable Zee Hamid, MPP (Milton), Associate Solicitor General.
Representing Scarborough-Rouge Park was Honourable Vijay Thanigasalam, Associate Minister of Mental Health and Addictions. MPP Aris Babikian represented the constituency of Scarborough-Agincourt and Honourable Raymond Cho, Minister of Seniors & Accessibility, joined from Scarborough North.
All aspects of public safety were discussed, including bail reform, auto theft and retail theft. Audience members also heard more of these topics from representatives of the Ontario Provincial Police as well as the Scarborough divisions of the Toronto Police Service.
MPP Smith emphasized during the meeting, “If you see something, say something – this is one of the most effective ways of ensuring greater public safety.”
The event was held at the Royal Canadian Legion – Branch 13 – on Kingston Road in Scarborough, and featured a packed house of constituents and insightful questions.
What made this event truly special was its emphasis on community – on Scarborough – and the increasing investments by the provincial government under Premier Ford the residents, schools and businesses in every neighbourhood and every corner of Scarborough.
