  • Zuby’s Crossroads: A Date with Destiny in San Diego
    Mar 22 2026
The "Road to the Sweet 16" just became personal. After St. John’s dismantled Northern Iowa 79–53 in a clinical first-round display, led by a dominant 14-point, 11-rebound double-double from Zuby Ejiofor This isn't just a 4-vs-5 seed battle; it’s a collision of legacies. In one corner, you have the Hall of Fame heavyweight bout between Rick Pitino and Bill Self, two of only three active coaches with multiple national titles. In the other, you have the ultimate "revenge" narrative. For the first time since leaving Lawrence, Zuby Ejiofor faces the coach and the jersey he once wore. After a season where he blossomed into the Big East Player of the Year in Queens, Zuby now has the chance to prove to Bill Self exactly what the Jayhawks are missing. Can Pitino’s frantic pressure and Zuby’s interior dominance topple the blue-blood giants, or will Self’s tactical brilliance send the Johnnies back to the Big Apple? We break down the film, the feelings, and the fire. #SJUBB #StJohns #RedStorm #bigeastenergy #bigeasthoops Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

  • The Storm is Coming: St. John’s vs. Northern Iowa Preview
    Mar 20 2026
The dance is officially here! After a historic run to a second consecutive Big East Championship, Rick Pitino and the St. John’s Red Storm (28-6) are headed to San Diego as a No. 5 seed to face the ultimate bracket-buster: the No. 12 seed Northern Iowa Panthers (23-12). In this episode, we break down why the "Johnnies" enter this matchup as one of the hottest teams in the country, winning 19 of their last 20 games. We look at the dominant play of Big East Player of the Year Zuby Ejiofor, who is coming off a monster 18-point, 7-block performance in the title game blowout of UConn. Can his defensive interior presence neutralize the Panthers’ disciplined attack? On the other side, Ben Jacobson has the Panthers back in the tournament for the first time in a decade after a historic Arch Madness run where they became the lowest seed (No. 6) to ever win the MVC title. We analyze UNI’s sharpshooting guard Trey Campbell and their top-25 ranked defense that loves to slow the pace. Is this a classic 5-12 upset alert, or will the Red Storm’s "New York’s Team" energy carry them into the weekend? #SJUBB #StJohns #RedStorm #BIGEASthoops #bigeastenergy Learn more about your ad choices. • Concrete Jungle Kings: The Night St. John’s Reclaimed the Crown
    Mar 16 2026
The atmosphere at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night was electric, buzzing with a feeling that hadn’t been felt in Queens for decades. For the second consecutive year, the St. John’s Red Storm stood atop the Big East mountain, but this time, the victory felt like a definitive changing of the guard. In a physically dominant, wire-to-wire 72–52 thrashing, St. John’s didn't just beat UConn—they dismantled them. Under the bright lights of "The World’s Most Famous Arena," Rick Pitino’s squad looked every bit like the juggernaut fans have been waiting for. The Johnnies jumped out to a blistering 10–0 start, forcing Huskies coach Dan Hurley into an early timeout that did little to quell the momentum. The defense was the story of the night, spearheaded by Big East Player and Defensive Player of the Year Zuby Ejiofor. Ejiofor delivered a legendary performance, racking up 18 points and a record-setting 7 blocks, a feat not seen in a Big East title game since Patrick Ewing in 1984. By the time Dillon Mitchell threw down a thunderous windmill dunk in the second half to cap a 13–0 run, the UConn faithful were silenced, and the Garden belonged solely to the Red Storm. #SJUBB #StJohns #RedStorm #BIGEASThoops Learn more about your ad choices.
