EPISODE 66 | Receiving Who You Were Always Made To Be

Your false identity is not something you chose. It is something that formed around your wounds.

This episode is for every woman who has been living inside a story about herself that was never actually hers. We talk about the false identities most of us carry without realizing it, the thought loops on repeat, the limiting beliefs rooted in scarcity, and why shame is not a character flaw but a lie of the enemy.

Lesley shares the moment she received her own true identity — not in her perfectly prepared quiet time, but at a friend's kitchen table, in community. And she offers a framework for understanding why we lead with the wrong identity, how to recognize the false one, and what it actually means to receive the true one.

In this episode: · Why false identity forms around wounds, not choices · The thought loops that keep us living small and why they are lies · Wrong belief about God → wrong belief about self → wrong behavior · Why true identity is received, not achieved · The moment Lesley heard her own true identity· What it means to stop earning and start receiving

Something to sit with: When someone asks who you are, what do you reach for first? That answer is information. Not judgment. Just a starting place on the way back to the truest thing about you.

  • 65 | Your Body Was Never the Problem, It Was Trying to Keep You Safe
    Apr 16 2026

What happens when your body starts screaming what your mind refuses to hear?

This episode is one of the most personal ones yet. Lesley opens with the season she rarely talks about — her first solo summer as a mother of two, an overwhelmed nervous system, coping mechanisms she didn't yet have words for, and the moment a bag of spilled rice brought her to her knees.

From there she moves into the wide spectrum of dissociation — what it looks like to live entirely from the neck up, why high-functioning numbness is still numbness, and why the coping mechanisms you're most ashamed of were once the most brilliant parts of you.

She also tells the story of the camping trip — anxiety crashing in the middle of the wilderness, the place that was supposed to feel like sanctuary, being dismissed by the people she loved most, and the quiet shift that happened when she got home.

This episode closes with a guided somatic grounding practice. She is not sending you away with information. She is bringing you back into your body before you go.

    In this episode:

    · Operating from the neck up and the cost of disconnection

    · The spectrum of dissociation — from dramatic to high-functioning

    · Coping mechanisms as survival strategies — brilliant, not broken

    · The body keeps score — trauma stored in tissue, not just memory

    · The camping trip and the particular loneliness of being dismissed

    · Talk therapy vs. somatic healing

    · The July 19th breadcrumb — following the nudge that changed everything

    · A guided grounding practice to bring you home

    Something to sit with:

What breadcrumb have you been ignoring? What is your body trying to tell you that you haven't been willing to hear yet?

    Apr 9 2026

What if religion was never meant to be the destination?

This episode goes somewhere tender. And somewhere true.

Lesley opens with the wound so many women carry quietly — the fracture that forms when the container meant to hold God becomes the thing standing between you and Him. When religion shifts from a doorway into relationship to a system of control, fear, guilt, and shame, it doesn't just hurt — it separates. And that separation can feel like losing God entirely.

But what if you never actually lost Him? What if the divide you've been carrying was never a crisis of faith — but an invitation to go deeper than the container and find the relationship that was always waiting underneath it?

This episode holds space for diversity. It is not a takedown of religion — it is an invitation beyond performance and into the kind of heart-to-heart relationship with God that no system can manufacture and no wound can permanently sever.

    WHAT WE EXPLORE

    · How religion can create distance from God rather than closeness — and why that is not your fault

    · The difference between religion as a gift and religion as a cage

    · Why the focus on behavior, fear, guilt, and shame is not the heart of the gospel

    · What it looks like to move from religious performance into genuine relational intimacy with God

    · Why spirituality is your birthright — and no wound, deconstruction, or distance can remove it

    · The YHWH breath — the Hebrew name of God hidden in every breath you have ever taken

    · A somatic visualization prayer to help you encounter divine love in your own body

    SOMETHING TO SIT WITH

Where have you been hiding in your pain, carrying something you think disqualifies you from being seen? He already knows. And He came to find you there anyway.

    THE YHWH BREATH

YHWH — the Hebrew name of God — is the sound of breath.

Yah on the inhale. Weh on the exhale.

Every breath you have ever taken has been the name of God. You have never once been outside His presence.

    Apr 2 2026
IN THIS EPISODEAfter nearly a year of silence — she's back.In May 2025, Lesley went quiet. No explanation. No goodbye. Just stillness. What looked like an absence was actually the most necessary disappearance of her life — a full season of surrender, somatic healing, identity reclamation, and what she calls Metanoia: a complete transformation of mind, heart, and direction. This episode is the return. Raw, honest, and embodied. Lesley walks through what actually happened in that cocoon — the catalyst moment that changed everything, what it means to liquefy before you grow wings, and why your own stillness might not be what you think it is.She also shares the meaning hidden inside her own name, the book she's writing in real time on Substack, and an invitation to trust the season you're in — even when it looks like nothing is happening.WHAT WE EXPLORE· What Metanoia actually means — and why your transformation might look like dissolution· The full-body yes moment that changed everything — and what it means to follow alignment before logic· Why healing requires losing the identity built around your pain· The hidden meaning in Lesley's name — Lazelle, Lesley, and the threshold between the hard and the holy· The book being written in real time — Called to Courage — and how to follow along· A permission slip for every woman who is in her own cocoon right nowSOMETHING TO SIT WITHIs there a place in your life where you've been in the cocoon — quiet, still, maybe even dark? • The Kindred Journey is Back- A rebirth, not a rebrand!
    Apr 2 2026

Have you ever felt the pull of something sacred — but couldn't find a space that felt safe enough to explore it?

    This is that space.

The Kindred Journey is a podcast for the woman who knows there's more. More wholeness. More truth. More of herself waiting on the other side of the stories she's been carrying. Whether you've been wounded by religion, walked away from something sacred, or you simply feel it in the silence of the trees before you ever feel it in a room full of people — there is a seat at this table for you.

Hosted by Lesley Alberts — somatic coach, embodied healing guide, and someone who spent years looking like she had it all together while quietly falling apart on the inside — each episode weaves together nervous system healing, trauma-informed wisdom, and an invitational spirituality rooted in the belief that you were never as far gone as you thought.

Here we explore how healing happens in the body. How identity is received, not earned. How spirituality can feel like coming home instead of measuring up. And how the kind of community where you stop fitting in and actually belong is not only possible — it is the whole point.
