An explosion in St. Albinus rocks more than just the town centre when the victim turns out to be someone from Maggie’s past. Mack pretty quickly decides the two of them have to find the killer, because the victim had a lot of skeletons in his closet—literally —and it’s going to take someone who was around back in the day to get to the bottom of this. As it turns out, the Big Island is full of its own shady characters, and Charlie is hired to bring one of them to justice.

And worse, a threatening message on the body indicates this might not be the killer's last victim. Deciding that solving this crime is her key to making a name for herself in town—for a good reason, for once—Mack immediately decides she’s going to figure out who killed the artist. But, she very quickly discovers that the victim had a lot more than watercolors on his palette.

Step aside, Zodiac. There’s a new serial killer on the loose in San Francisco, and the police have enlisted Poppy and Ophelia’s help to get to the bottom of it. With multiple bodies already having been found, and the killer showing no signs of stopping, Poppy knows they’re racing against the clock to save as many lives as possible. The killer has made it obvious he's after attention, but once he realizes he's got Ophelia’s, he makes it clear he thinks he's a match for her.
