Was für ein Lotterleben, denkt sich Yoyo, als er die Bewohner des Dornröschenschlosses sieht. Am helllichten Tag wird hier geschlafen und das, obwohl soviel zu tun wäre! Selbst der Koch verschläft, dass er dem frechen Küchenjungen eine Ohrfeige verabreichen wollte. Doch bald kommen unsere Helden, Yoyo und Doc Croc mithilfe der Fee Bianca hinter das uralte Geheimnis des dornenumrankten Schlosses. Ein schönes Mädchen, eine beleidigte böse Fee und eine vergiftete Spindel spielen dabei eine Rolle.

Ein seltsames Gefolge, das der verliebte Prinz auf dem Wege zum Schloss seiner Angebeteten einsammelt: Ein Dickwanst, der ganze Meere austrinken kann, ein Horcher, der Gras wachsen hört, ein Seher, der über Tausende von Meilen hinweg auch noch die kleinste Maus entdeckt, und das sind nur drei von sechs seltsamen Dienern! Doch Yoyo und Doc Croc ahnen bereits, dass der Prinz übermenschliche Hilfe braucht, um die unlösbaren Aufgaben der bösen Königin zu bewältigen.

Doc Croc und Yoyo können es nicht fassen: Kaum sind sie von dem schrecklichen Bauernhof geflohen, wollen der alte Esel, der krächzende Gockel, der zahnlose Hund sowie die gebrechliche Katze plötzlich Stadtmusikanten werden. Und dabei singen sie so, dass die Milch sauer wird! Auch die Räuber, denen die Stadtmusikanten ein hübsches Ständchen bringen wollen, sind wenig entzückt. Sie sehen in der Gestalt, die vor ihrem Fenster steht, nur ein kreischendes Monster mit acht Augen. Aber was ist, wenn die Räuber ihren Irrtum erkennen?

Yoyo tippt sich an die Stirn: Wie kann ein Wal der Bruder eines Adlers sein? Und was ist das für ein Gerede von der Kristallkugel, die im Ei eines Geiers versteckt ist, der in einem wilden Bullen steckt, der wiederum... Hier war ein ganz besonderer Zauber im Spiel. Doc Croc hat nun Gelegenheit, seinen berühmten Scharfsinn unter Beweis zu stellen, denn schließlich muss nicht nur der Zauber gebrochen, sondern auch noch die Prinzessin vor der Ehe mit einem alten Scheusal von Zauberer bewahrt werden.

Eine Neuigkeit aus der Unterwelt: Der Teufel hat eine Großmutter! Sie ist fast so böse wie ihr berüchtigter Enkel, aber sie hat eine ganz große Schwäche: Das Rätsellösen. Gut, dass Yoyo und Doc Croc dies noch rechtzeitig herausgefunden haben, denn sonst hätten sie und ihr neuer Freund Kaspar ihr weiteres Leben in Ameisengröße fristen müssen. Nun haben sie vielleicht sogar die Chance, die drei goldenen Haare des Teufels mitgehen zu lassen und Kaspar zum König zu machen.
