Durch Zufall findet die Bochumer Kripo bei dem Unternehmer Swoboda kinderpornografisches Material und nimmt ihn in Haft. Obwohl die Bilder und Filme offensichtlich in dessen Haus aufgenommen wurden, behauptet Swoboda, nichts mit der Sache zu tun zu haben. Dann wird ein Mädchen ermordet und als eines der Opfer der Kinderschänder identifiziert. Ein grausamer Fall für Katharina Thalbach und ihre Kollegen von der Mordkommission - und ein Wettlauf mit der Zeit, denn sie kennen noch immer nicht die Namen der anderen Mädchen und das Töten geht weiter.
