Susie starts off today's show with a look at the birth-control debate gone wild.Guess where. Yup, it's happening down in Texas, where the state legislators and the governor are destroying birth control and abortion access. Susie says they are not alone in their draconian measures, but the size and disenfranchisement of the affected population is vast. Their puritan ideas on women's health are truly scary.

Don't you love The Onion? It's full of fun spoofs that can sometimes be all-too realistic. Susie found a recent Onion article entitled "If You Wish to Be a Writer, Have Sex with Someone Who Works in Publishing". Susie loves it and she laughs along as she reads the "sincere" advice for young writers, which includes establishing a daily routine involving many ways to have sex with a publisher. If you have writers block, says the article, just move on, find a different person to sleep with, and your slump may improve!

Today Susie catches up with listener letters from our "Try This at Home" mailbag. She reads and answers two letters on matters both global and personal. One fellow writes about his slow start sexually. He was 23 before he had sex, and this has led him to think about Puritans, sexual pleasure, morals, and more. Susie has much to say on this topic. The next letter delves into porn and erotica, but with a special twist. Our correspondent is looking for athletic, strong women in porn that aren't "Barbie doll" types. Susie has some pretty hot suggestions....

How does the Border Control identify sex traffickers, or people coming into the country for any kind of sex? And... why is it any of their business? Susie reads an article from Laura Agustin's The Naked Anthropologist blog about sex victims and sex workers. Agustin is an authority on trafficking, and she explodes several myths: that selling sex is completely different from any other kind of work, that migrants who sell sex are passive victims, and that the multitudes of people out to "save" them are without self-interest.

Susie spends the entire show in a retro mode. If you think the TV show Mad Men is hot, well Susie has a circa 1964 "how-to pick-up gays" pamphlet that rivals that show for sex appeal - from the underground. The Beginners Guide to Cruising is a serious how-to manual written by George Marshall. It offers pointers on everything from etiquette to the tools needed to attract a young gay man.

Susie starts us off with a look at electoral politics at a strip club in Florida. That's right - people in the sex industry are talking about which presidential candidate they might vote for next month. A recent article in The Huffington Post stated that both political parties have a lot to prove to workers at this bar, as well as its patrons. Seems like both Romney and Obama have a long way to go to please some working-class people and earn their votes.

Susie speaks with George Mason University professor Roger Lancaster about his recent New York Times op-ed piece entitled "Sex Offenders: The Last Pariahs". Lancester, who has extensively researched the subject, talks to Susie about the harshness and ineffectiveness of sex-offender laws. Guided by panic, we've put more people behind bars - but that hasn't helped to curb or make children safer from sexual predators. Susie and Roger talk about the problems of sex-offender registries and why politicians are such cowards on this issue.
