In 1915, Richard Alburtus Morrisey published Bible History of the Negro in the hope of promoting the study of the Bible. The book brings together all the references to Black people in the scriptures, including Ham, son of Noah, Batsheba, Simon of Cyrene, Nimrod, Melchizedek, Hagar, Ishmael, Rahab, and Candace, queen of Ethiopia. It provides a detailed overview of all the relevant passages in scripture, and it caters to questions regarding race and the Bible.

R.A. Torrey was one of the few men who lived his life to the very hilt for Jesus. He was friends with D.L. Moody, helped pioneer the Moody Bible Institute, and wrote extensively on prayer and the Holy Spirit. However, he didn’t just write about these things out of theory, or simply from studies of the Bible texts; he wrote out of experience. He was a man of prayer and a man who had an incredibly close relationship with the Spirit of the Lord.
