Dr. Gale M. Sinatra is the Stephen H. Crocker Professor of Education and Psychology at the Rossier School of Education at the University of Southern California (USC), where she teaches courses in educational psychology. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, American Educational Research Association, and the Society for Text and Discourse. Sinatra received her B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has published several dozen articles and book chapters and was recognized by the American Educational Research Association for career achievements in research with the Sylvia Scribner Award in 2020. She heads the Motivated Change Research Lab at USC, the mission of which is understanding the cognitive, motivational, and emotional processes that lead to attitude change, conceptual change, and successful science learning. Her current work is on public understanding of science.
