George S. Thompson, MD is a child psychiatrist devoted to assisting families and healthcare organizations to build emotionally safe, curious, collaborative, and coherent cultures that transform trauma into wisdom. George serves on the advisory board of the Polyvagal Institute and has been treasurer of the board of directors of the Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy Institute. He has taught medical communications and researched how a climate of professionalism promotes learning professionalism. He teaches tools for personal transformation through the Avatar® course. George lives in Lawrence, Kansas and speaks and trains internationally. He and his team are creating a model youth psychiatric residential program, the Thompson Centers for Heroic Change.
