Jessica Brodie is an award-winning journalist, author, blogger, editor, inspirational speaker, and devotional writer with thousands of articles to her name. A humanitarian warrioress who draws her inner strength and convictions from the mighty spirit of God, she is willing to go where needed to get a story or do what the Lord asks, whether that’s the inner city, a roof doing mission repairs, or walking with lions in Gweru, Zimbabwe. Jessica is also the editor of the South Carolina United Methodist Advocate, the oldest newspaper in Methodism, which has won 123 journalism awards during her tenure. She authored Feed My Sheep: A 40-Day Devotional to Develop a Heart for Hunger Ministry (2019) and More Like Jesus: A Devotional Journey (2018) and compiled Stories of Racial Awakening: Narratives on Changed Hearts and Lives of South Carolina United Methodists (books one and two), all from her newspaper’s Advocate Press, which she helped found. She has won more than 100 writing awards from the North and South Carolina press associations, Religion Communicators Council, and United Methodist Association of Communicators. She is a seasoned speaker and frequent contributor to Christianity.com, BibleStudyTools.com, and the United Methodist News Service, among many others. She has a weekly faith blog at JessicaBrodie.com and is part of the team at Wholly Loved Ministries, with her work included in their most recent Bible study, Unshakable, Unbreakable Joy (2021). Through Wholly Loved, her devotionals are also featured on Crosswalk.com and on Bible.com YouVersion. She also has a YouTube channel at https://youtube.com/jessicajbrodie. Jessica has a passion for writing captivating, intelligent, escapist Christian fiction, the kind of books you can’t put down. Her unpublished novel, The Memory Garden, won the 2018 Genesis Award for Contemporary Fiction from the American Christian Fiction Writers. Another unpublished novel, Tangled Roots, won a third place Foundation Award in Contemporary Romance at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference in 2019. Her latest novel is Hidden Seeds. Currently, these books are with her agent seeking the right publishing house. Born and raised in Miami, Florida, she moved to South Carolina in 2010 and has fallen in love with the transformational stories and secrets rooted in the deep history of the state, as well as the cacophony of old and new that fill her senses. She strives to build a cherished community and ministry through all she does. Jessica holds a Master of Arts in English and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in communications/print journalism from Florida International University. Before moving to South Carolina, she was managing editor for the Crossroads Chronicle newspaper in Cashiers, North Carolina, and was a college writing instructor (Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale and Florida International University in Miami). She and her husband also own and operate a media production and digital marketing agency, Brodie Media, based in South Carolina. They have four teenaged children and stepchildren and live outside Columbia, South Carolina. An avid reader since the age of two, Jessica has been writing stories since she was old enough to hold a pencil. Her favorite toy was her mother's old typewriter, and if she weren't a writer, she'd likely be a librarian or run a bookstore. She is represented by Bob Hostetler of The Steve Laube Agency.
