Dr. Jesús Miguel Martínez Álvarez is a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, neuroscientist, and writer. He holds psychotherapist certifications from the Venezuelan Association of Psychotherapy (AVEPSI), the Latin American Federation of Psychotherapy (FLAPSI), and the World Council for Psychotherapy (WCP). As an academic, he served as: Professor of group psychotherapy and brief psychotherapies in the psychiatry postgraduate program at Centro de Salud Mental de Este, Universidad Central de Venezuela. Professor in the psychotherapy postgraduate program at Universidad del Zulia. He founded and directed the Centro de Ayuda para las Relaciones Amorosas (CARA) [Help Center for Love Relationships], and served as: Coordinator of Psychiatry and Social Psychohygiene at the International Society of Specialists in Social Dynamics. President of the Venezuelan Association of Psychotherapy (AVEPSI). Secretary of the Latin American Federation of Psychotherapy (FLAPSI). Currently, he directs the Instituto Venezolano de Gestalt [Venezuelan Institute of Gestalt] and is a sought-after international speaker on psychiatry, psychotherapy (including couples therapy), neuroscience, and communication.
