Hi readers, I was born in South Africa and came to the United States in 1980. After working in the theater, performing in New York, London and South Africa, I turned my attention to writing. My short fiction has been published in Story, Outside and literary magazines, while my many travel articles, essays and book reviews have been published in the New York Times. My first novel, Skinner's Drift, published in the USA, UK and South Africa, was named a notable book of 2006 by the New York Times, was also a finalist for the LA Times Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction, and the runner-up for the 2007 Dayton Literary Peace Prize. I'm passionate about the writer's craft and my new ebook 21 Days To Awaken The Writer Within is now available, I'm a frequent presenter in the Hay House Writer's Workshop series and I teach in the San Diego area.
