Loretta earned a Master's Degree in Writing for Children from Hamline University. She's the author of novels for adults and younger readers. Her YA novels include THE SHROUDING WOMAN, IN SEARCH OF MOCKINGBIRD, IN A HEARTBEAT, and UNFORGETTABLE. TANGLE-KNOT (Page Street Kids, 2023) is her first picture book. Her adult novels include STARS OVER CLEAR LAKE (St. Martin's Press), THE FRENCH WINEMAKER'S DAUGHTER (HarperCollins), and her upcoming novel THE JILTED COUNTESS (HarperCollins, 2026). Her books have been a Rebecca Caudill nominee, won the Midwest Bookseller's Choice Honor Award, a Teen's Top Ten finalist, an IRA Notable, named to the New York Library's List of Books for the Teen Age, and a Kirkus Pick of the Month. THE FRENCH WINEMAKER'S DAUGHTER was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award. A former teacher, she lives with her family in Minnesota.
