Phil leads the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Executives in Residence team, comprising former CXOs who provide board and C-suite advisory, helping turn technologies such as the cloud and AI in to organisational speed, agility customer-centricity. Prior to AWS, Phil held senior roles in McDonald’s Corporation including VP for Global Technology Development and International Chief Information Officer. Phil led and co-led multiple large-scale initiatives to transform McDonald’s into a modern technology-enabled company. Phil has previously been recognised as one of the top 100 UK-based CIOs. He also holds a BEng in Electronic Engineering, an MBA, an MSc in Systems Thinking in Practice, and a PGDip in Technology, Innovation and Data Science. He is a Chartered Manager, Chartered Member of the British Computer Society, and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and Institute of Directors. His and Jana Werner’s current book is “The Octopus Organization,” published with Harvard.
