Rusty is the author of 11 books, including his #1 Best Seller, "The Peasant's Scroll," written under the pen name R.J. Williams. Ordained in 2008, Rusty holds a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling and a Doctor of Ministry in Church Development. Diagnosed in 2009 with a rare spinal cord tumor, he now navigates life with a disability — and with remarkable grace. Before ministry, Rusty built a remarkable career in service: he became the youngest certified paramedic in his state straight out of high school, then served 25 years as a highly-decorated police officer, retiring as a detective. He is also an internationally recognized clinical hypnotist and mindfulness instructor. Today, Rusty serves as a police chaplain and co-leads Barefoot Ministries — the organization he and his wife founded in 2014 to serve those who are suffering, physically or spiritually. He is the father of two sons, two daughters-in-law, two grandchildren, and the grateful husband of a wife who deserves sainthood.
