S.L. Cook is the author of A Snow Leopard Named Midas, winner of the Best Thriller Finalist 2025 award. An Emmy Award-winning producer, Cook covered America's most turbulent events—the LA riots, Rodney King trials, Northridge earthquake, and OJ Simpson trial—for NBC, CNN, and CBS. He served as CNN's Managing Editor in Los Angeles and Executive Producer for Sports at CBS LA, the nation's largest local broadcast sports department. A former athlete who has published short stories and Op-eds nationwide, Cook brings both physical and journalistic authenticity to his fiction. He writes psychological thrillers about morally complex heroes operating where justice and vengeance blur. His work explores the weight of conscience, the price of violence, and what's left when the mission ends but the war never does—all told with an unencumbered voice. Cook lives in California, where he continues producing television sports and working on his next novel, An Athlete in Winter, coming Spring 2026.
