Corin Cadence is on the run.

After meeting with the Emerald Council, Corin has made himself some new enemies—most notably the Dalenos Six, a group of the most powerful representatives of the nation of Dalenos.

He's also made a dangerous deal.

A place of safety, if he can reach it. One where he can finally have one of the resources he needs most: time.

But while that strange place may hold the key for Corin to make his final preparations for a long-awaited rescue mission, it also holds hidden dangers. And one final secret tied to the Cadence household. One that could shake the very foundations of everything Corin has been raised to believe.

Every fantasy author looks at time shenanigans as though behind glass that reads "break in case of emergency". Rowe passes his hand through the glass and leaves a note reading "I'll bring it back in five minutes" and crafts a novel that dances on the edge of existential horror and RPG video game action to bring us worldbuilding swings that hit every time. The penultimate entry in the first series of Rowes that I personally experienced proves a premise I think is missing from the genre - not a story that builds a world around it, but a story existing in a wide, wide, world that is truly magical - brought to life by the best audio narrator in the industry.

Delivers on a premise, and then some.

With a book with this name, one can expect time hijinks. These expectations are not disappointed.

This leans heavily into magic system discussions; if you aren't interested in that side of this series, I suspect this book will not work well for you. Fortunately for me, I enjoy this kind of system geekery. Unfortunately, the system seems to be getting away from Rowe a bit. Both sides of the conflict have left the quaint events of the first few volumes far behind.

The story flips back and forth between Corin and his friends, and the time shenanigans make it difficult to follow the plot details at times.

The plot is consequential and the ending works fairly well.

I enjoyed this volume more than book 5 of the series, but it's not up to the level of the first couple of books. Recommended, but only for an audience that likes very hard magic systems.

Solid, but not pinnacle

This series is inspired more about my own dnd campaigns Far more than I could have ever expected. the anount of details Inserted at certain moments.
It's all fantastic.

If I had one Critique, it would be the interludes seemed stretch out longer than I wanted. And there are far more of them.
Then I believe necessary.

I look forward to book 7.
and any other side stories that you may have planned.

I’m not a fan of interludes and things not chained together back to back . But that’s just me.

Good but has that sequence thing going on.

The author is done a fantastic job with this entire series. This book is a great continuation to the series. It makes me super eager for the next book. I absolutely love the fact that the title seems like a kind of joke between the character and his future self . It's hard to write anything with Time travel involved and the few near Mrs. of him almost meeting himself on his current timeline we're done fantastically.

Fantastic Continuation of the series
