She came back for a quick visit. She stayed to solve a murder.

When Chloe Martin returns to Jericho Falls, Nevada, it's supposed to be a short trip to check on her spirited grandmother, Lily. But her plans take a sharp detour when a prominent local is found dead-in Lily's flowerbed.

Now Grandma Lily is the prime suspect, and Chloe finds herself caught between a town full of whispers and a past she thought she'd left behind. To protect her family, she'll have to dig deep into Jericho Falls' history, unearth long-buried secrets, and navigate a web of quirky neighbors, loyal pets, and suspicious motives.

Can Chloe uncover the truth before her grandmother is arrested and maybe find a reason to stay in town for good?

A History of Murder is the charming first book in the Jericho Falls Cozy Mystery series.

I really enjoyed this book, it definitely falls in the cozy mystery genre. I love that it wasn't predictable, had plenty of interesting and some colorful small town characters, twists and turns, unsolved teen histories, and a great beginning love triangle. I can't wait to see where this series goes, absolutely recommend it to mystery and clean cozy readers.

Parents- PG13 good for middle grade readers to adults
Language- I don't remember much bad language, definitely no f-bombs
Violence- murders but nothing too graphic
Sexual Content- it's really pretty clean other then a few alluded to discussions, or relationships but no actual bedroom scenes

The narrator did a great job with the differentiation and acting skills. I did like it better at 1.3x speed but I do tend to listen to many books a bit faster.

Through the whole book, it had you wondering who killed him. Poor grandma being accused of murder and seeming so nice but actually being sneaky. This is a great mystery book with a twist of history.

This series-starter is a sweet cozy mystery that introduces Chloe, and Grandma Lily. All right, so it's all told ftom Chloe's POV, but I loved Grandma Lily. She's a crafty scene-stealer.

I liked Chloe from the first page. She's smart, determined, and loyal. While she didn't want to go home, she stays to help Grandma Lily when she's accused of murder, causing no small amount of trouble for the Chief of Police.

The story is full of humor and drama, a touch of romance, and a mystery including twists and clues that leave the reader guessing. There is also an underlying mystery from Chloe's past that isn't completely resolved, but I was okay with that as I suspect it's going to be a thread running through the series. The main mystery is solved with a solution I didn't see coming. A cast of small-town characters keeps the story entertaining, and Chloe on her toes.

Kristen Hamilton was an excellent narrator. She was easy to listen to, and with the range of voices she used I always knew who was speaking.

Fun start to a cozy series
