Yeah, it was a little cheesy and it did smack of the bachelorette but it was still kind of cute and silly. I do get tired af all the drama in all the romance novels all the time so this was sort of a nice change.
I did like all the players: Lady Margaret, Nicholas, Jane, Colin, David, Jules, Hollister and, eventually, Bryce.
And there was the mystery of who was trying to kill Jane. I KNOW that none of you readers can honestly say you saw that coming!
The only part I was really bothered by was that after Jane "slept" with Nicholas twice she still insisted on going on with the competition and left him wondering if she would choose him. I thought that was a little rediculous.

As to the narrator: I know a lot of you think Ms. Flosnik is "oh, so wonderful" but I can only see her as barely ok. She doesn't have much emotion when she reads and she kinda' sucks at the men's voices. They all sound alike and all gravelly when they talk. I don't mind that they all sound alike but I hate the gravelly sound she gives them. Maybe it's because it makes them all sound like old men. I'am glad that Justine Eyre is reading the next book.

Russell is a very visual author. She builds up a world that you could easily step into. Each and every aspect is intricately put together without detracting from the fast forward pace of the story proper. She draws you into this captivating world and draws you along for a captivating ride. Romance, mystery, and intrigue abound keeping you guessing and thinking throughout. I could barely put this one down.

I loved the characters in this novel. The panel of bachelors brought in to this story are all captivating and breathtaking in their own manner. I also appreciated how the main character isn’t perfect. She attempts to be who others want her to be rather than herself. That said, she is intrinsically a good person who wants what’s best for those around her. Watching her journey of self-discovery is priceless.

Overall, think the bachelorette with a historical & suspsenseful twist. Well worth the read any time of year.

So, this was a cute little story. It wasn’t anything more than that. One woman and six men in competition for a marriage that came with money and property. Basically all the men turned out to be good guys but she only liked one from the beginning, so it really wasn’t that interesting. There were parts in it that were funny and parts in it that was sweet, and so it kept me entertained. The narrators voice was mostly OK, sometime she got annoying . Especially when it was an action or intense scene. Also, the book was too PG for me.

I gave it 4 stars because of the two sex scenes that I could really do without. They were too long and I was anxious to get on with the rest of the story. But over all it's a very good interesting story.

2nd reading add'l review:
The plot was very good. Near the end, however, the heroin spent too much time trying to save someone who hated her and didn't want to be saved thus almost losing her own life. I enjoyed the different tasks. I liked the characters.

Bachelorette in historical Scotland....very different start to a book...6 suitors...how could a girl choose?

Loved this book, because it was so different from most that I have read recently. The storyline with six suitors competing to be Lady Jane's husband. There was excitement, danger, & love.

I enjoyed all the characters and hope to see all of them in future books. The plot and characters were really well developed.

Buy this book...it's really inexpensive and save your credits for more expensive books.
